No haas, I got exactly what you said, but you sorta missed mine. My point was in certain vocations.... (beyond driving down a highway per an old 1993 DOT report) ...where it requires your 'full' attention where lives are at risk, the narcotic effect of pot can easily result in injury or even death..including the job of plane mechanics. Smoking even a little can get people killed in those particular jobs. Now 'just driving down the highway'…heck, I'd rather ride with someone who's got a slight buzz on pot, than ride with someone who's constantly texting while driving the car! Your friend may not be in a position to do harm to himself or others (which is good), and probably doesn't smoke enough of it (I.e. 'hooked') to cause himself or anyone else harm. But I as a jet pilot could easily do so, as could someone in the medical field as Shalandai mentioned.

Not everyone will become a heavy drug user that uses it with good self-control for 'medical' reasons..I admit that. But if a person does get 'hooked', it could lead, and has led to more dangerous drugs with far worse consequences. You can't deny that. That's reality. I've seen these incidents for myself in both my personal life, as well as my 'professional' life in law enforcement working drug cases. Remember, I wasn't always a pilot.

I mean for me... there would have to be some laws for usage if it was legalized. Its really scary for me to have friends that do it, and to see their futures trickle away and the family is just torn apart. Teens have access to it... but maybe if it was legalized, those dealers would start to stray away from teens. Selling it to people like under 21 or something should be illegal. Marijuana can also be helpful to doctors so they should definitly be able to use it. I agree, if we legalized it, alot of violence would go down. Smuglers wouldn't smuggle.. and that would free up some federal money considering a ton of prisoners in US jails were arrested for having pot. But, there could also be a down side, and smugglers would still give it to teens. Some of my friends do pot.. and its so scary for me. I'm always worried about them, and I wish wish so much they would stop. But I can't stop them because its too late and they would easliy get more of it. Hope I contributed a bit to your project, Son.

...Wow.

You seem to have honest to god gotten stupider. You really think that pot makes people throw their lives away? The entire football team in my school does pot, and they are literally no worse for it. I know some hardcore [m'kay] nerds, I.E. they get over 90% in every goddamn class; they do pot. All you've shown with this post is how ridiculously ignorant you are, and that you're simply taking opinions from people and pretending their your own. Get a brain.

Must be an American thing, because I've never seen it. Though, I imagine with the way your health care system works, well... I won't argue that one, then.

haasd0gg wrote:We are talking about pot, which I would think a health care professional would know, is a schedule 1 substance. That's not a narcotic buddy.

When used in a legal context, a narcotic drug is simply one that is prohibited, or one that is used in violation of strict governmental regulation, such as PCP or marijuana. Feel free to look it up.

Have you noticed that the two of you are the first in the thread to stray into personally attacking / insulting anyone who does not disagree with you?

I wouldn't have posted here since i know this is another "delicate" thread, but i can't resist  here goes what i think about legalising "pot".

Now personally i would be against legalising pot for the reason it is still a mind affecting drug.....BUT
Pot is illegal at the moment, yet i know about 2 kids here where i live, besides myself, that NEVER smoked it.
My point is that illegal as it is, noone cares and yet people can go to jail for having pot.

Now i'd say that for something as silly as smoking weed people souldn't be sent to prison.
Hence my toughts would be Solve the problem, and make it a bussness, simple as that.
But keep pot for +18 just like alcohol.....personally i'd never smoke it, but since it would be the solution for SOOOO many problems, i would not mind.

Especially since i saw a review on a country(don't recall wich one) where it was illegal to smoke pot, but that for a long time something called "paddos" where allowed.
These "paddos" are a certain mushroom type that creats halucinations and about 50% of the people who took it jumped out a window.
So Please, illegalising pot and allowing paddos?

SO legalise pot, send those 850.000 people home, make a bussness of it and other then that keep it as alcohol, +18 plain simple.

Thats so interesting.... I am a smoker and a really good friend of Marc Emery the Prince of Pot. I was the landlord of the Vancouver School of Drug war History in Vancouver about 5 years ago. I have read some of what some of you think. I am also the founder of a non profit society in Vancouver called the Western Aboriginal Harm Reduction Society. I totally agree that the prohibition of drugs is more harmful then the drugs in most cases. I do understand that there are negative consequences to using any substance and that harmful effects can be stemmed by improving the relationships with these substances. Some good sites to check out are: whyprohibition.ca, law enforcement against prohibition. The drug war has failed and continues to fail. So why flog a dead horse its not going anywhere...

I love people who make remarks about the American healthcare system pretending to believe that their socialized/bureaucratic healthcare systems are far superior. Wait to you to finally need to use your superior government controlled healthcare system and they shut the door on your sorry ass and tell you to wait 6 months to a year. Then as your is sitting there dying you'll be wishing how you could've crossed the border into the U.S. to get real treatment.

Wait? That's happening now in Canada.

That's... an entirely amusing statement. Your sig & title are certainly apt. Well played, sirs.

I'd have to agree completely with MinasTirith in this instance - legalization of marijuana can only be realistically compared to the legalization of alcohol - a significant foundation of profit. The alcohol prohibition in the 20's failed - looked at the monetary value of the industry now. The collateral effect of the alleviation on the prison system is just an added benefit.

The likeness is similar enough - both are harmful, mind-altering substances, and both of them pose serious, life-threatening risks if used irresponsably. The difference between the two; when a substance is made illegal, it's extremely difficult to find justification for the responsable use of it - the relationships of which Himzelf describes.

That said, if made legal I would still have no intentions of lighting up - I don't want to buy it, I don't want it in my house, I don't want to even smell it, and I certainly don't want to be around anyone under the influence of it.

Indeed. Thank you for the well wishes. I am gladdened to see that I have such a supportive fan. I will endeavour to keep you up-to-date on the status of our facelift.
