Say what you want about Gore, at least he put his heart and soul into something worthwhile. That's better than most politicians I know. As for climate change, anyone who doubts humans are accelerating it has to be drinking from the toilet. There is too much empirical data backing it up. As for exactly how and why there is no definitive answer just theories. It is hard to prove those theories because you can't just turn stuff off and see what happens. Also scientists suck at explaining their findings to non-scientist. Evening reading the OP article the only definitive conclusion you get is there is a brown cloud of biomass particles, its bad (obviously), and they feel the majority of it is man made.

There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.

Umm the last decade was cooler, that's the point of the story Matt. It's the guy that came up with the faulty hockey stick theory trying to explain why. I do like the mental gymnastics though.

As for the effects of the areosols

Climate scientist Judith Curry, chair of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Georgia Institute of Technology, doesn't find the economists' statistical theatrics convincing. She wonders why the short-lived regional increases in particulates should have a global effect on temperatures. She also notes that there has been no increase in aerosols, either globally or over East Asia, from 2000 to 2006; Chinese emissions only rose in the period 2004 to 2007. Kaufmann et al do acknowledge that a La Nina weather pattern cooled the planet between 1998 and 2000, while a warm El Nino increased temperatures in 2002 and again in 2010.

So you're one of those f'd up Republicans who think that Obama's plan is a "pull the plug on Grandma" plan? Or a government takeover? It's sad that FOX News has brainwashed your head and your soul. Try watching some actual sense, like MSNBC.

You're not doing yourself any favors; if you say that he's been brainwashed by FOX, what's stopping him from saying that you're brainwashed by MSNBC? Try reading some actual sense, like The Onion.

There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.

First problem with your statement, you assume Gore has a heart and soul. Point of fact, he is the biggest hypocrite when it comes to the new "communism" of going green. He wants to pontificate the doom of the planet, forcing us to use less and less. We should give our energy and money away to countries who do not have industry so they can use their "allotment" of the carbon credits. One big scam that even he doesn't really believe in. But he wants you all to cut back and take one for mother earth?

As for the science you refer to, how come these "scientists" working for the UN and other global interest groups have to cherry pick their findings in order to "prove" their hypothesis? If there is a problem with the "scientists" explaining their findings to we dullards, it might be the crap they are shoveling that gets in the way of their message.

So you're one of those f'd up Republicans who think that Obama's plan is a "pull the plug on Grandma" plan? Or a government takeover? It's sad that FOX News has brainwashed your head and your soul. Try watching some actual sense, like MSNBC.

This kind of thinking is what gets liberals in throuble. Try arguing the facts, with reasoning and common sense instead of name calling and belittling others. Your comment shows a high degree of hostility, with little in the way of intelligence.

And Val, lame in the least. If you disagree with someone, at least have the courtesy to explain your disagreement. Telling someone they are in denial without so much as a counter argument, facts, or even a dirty limerick is bad form.

Look kiddies, we have been over this particular debate before. Many times. Instead of trying to insult one another, try sticking to what you believe in and argue your point on the merits of the facts in a civilized manner.

Cutting back and "taking one for mother earth" should always be the case. You don't stomp around your house and wreck up the place, why should the earth be any different? Going "green" is not communism, it is a battle against gluttony.

Scientist by nature suck at explaining things to non-scientist. It's not their fault, they are mostly introverted people. As for cherry picking findings I would point out that it was a hypothesis they where trying to defend. Just like you are trying to defend this argument by choosing which facts to use or ignore. Personally I have ignored all of it and looked at their published papers and the data it was based on. I even got to be a grunt boy doing a study in my college marine biology class. Regardless, the data is grim and things are changing on a global scale too quickly for the human species not to have had an effect on it.

Fox news makes me sick, it is sensational crap served up as fact to a unsuspecting population. The dribble they produce isn't news, just an elongated Days of Our Lives show. At a lesser degree the remaining news networks aren't that much better. It has gotten to the point where I can't stand watching the news and just read the stuff online. If I really want to know what's going on in the US I read the BBC. Unbiased news is a lost utopia idea.

BTW I have your civility right here buddy!!!!

I find it amusing that many just think about the 'Global Warming/Change/Cooling..." but ignore the more direct effects of OUR actions.
Examples are:
Pollution that affects our health (soot, NOx, surface level Ozone etc...) due to cars, coal power plants and other pollution sources.
Depletion of aquifers at a rapid rate for our daily usage. (Several counties in Florida have water shortages now due to wasteful usage and salt water intrusion.)
Collection of large amounts of garbage (Island of plastic in the Pacific for example).
Wasteful lifestyles/mindsets. (Majority of Florida does not implement insulating walls/windows in homes. Had many tell me it is just a waste of money to renovate despite everyone practically using A/C). Seriously, there are now individually plastic wrapped bananas!

Cheers

Well it's sad to see that you've been brainwashed by one of the lowest rating, least watched cable network news channels on he entire planet. What's that have to say about you? Why don't you use your own damn brain and think for yourself and not let others tell you what to think. Try it, you might actually like it.
