Well, we didn't evolve from apes, as scientists have no missing link. 'I' feel, we may have all been dropped off from aliens 'a long time ago, from a galaxy far, far away', as a science experiment…and God is the 'Chief Alien'. Then, occasionally, they come back to visit us; or,
One 'Day' for God is the equivalent of 1 million/1 Billion years and He did it all.

2 many things to get the dots to join up for you MT and not I am not being sarcastic or anything like that, I am honestly not.

Some useful facts to help you along your way:

Our planet exists in the 'Goldilocks zone' (not 2 hot or 2 cold but just right), we have a moon far enough away to influence the tides etc. We have weather patterns and water which has been essential for the development of this planet. We do not reside close enough to stars which could wipe life out or near to black holes etc. We reside on one of the spiral arm of the Milky Way Galaxy.

Image

There are more than 400 billion stars in our galaxy alone and there are more than 500 billion galaxies. Now if we exist on one planet revolving around one star then imagine what is out there. Our planet is diverse with life in all its forms from the very smallest life form to humans. If there are many universes then the possibilities of life and how it all gels might be very different from this universe. We can see with our current technology about 12+ billion light years. Our galaxy is about 100,000 light years wide. 1 light year is a massive distance.

The link belows might be useful relating to how big the universe is and what we are made-up of:

http://www.noao.edu/education/peppercorn/pcmain.html
http://imagine.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/ask_a ... 0921a.html

Our own bodies are made up of the elements from Stars. Our planet was created from the elements of stars. Add a pinch of water, amino acids and a whole lot of time and if the conditions are right then life evolves and in some places into sentient (as we know it) life.

We are as a race are experimenting to create a mini-star on earth for cheap energy, at the quantum level the photons can be in 2 places at the same time but when this is measured by current techniques the quantum state collapses. How does consciousness work and what happens at the quantum level within our brains. There are so many things out there but to understand it would take a very very long time MT.

The above are examples of areas that contribute to evolution and are responsible for creating what exists all around us at the moment and how big the universe is compared to our tiny planet.
Look at the past to improve the future.

So MT if you don't believe in the Big Bang theory or the Evolution theory what do you believe in?
(Sorry if I missed the answer to this question as I can't be bothered to read these huge posts.)

I don't believe in either the big bang or evolution, but rather creationism. And as a bonus, I don't believe in human caused global warming either.

The quick run through

big bang: something created from nothing...
-Main(only) support for big bang:
---background noise (I believe comes from the billions of nuclear reactors and quasars)
---expanding universe (in which the expansion should be slowing, not increasing like it actually is)

evolution: chicken and the egg problem - an organism with the capability to implement it's DNA, and said implementation stored in DNA
-Main support for evolution:
---Natural Selection:
-----I believe in natural selection, just not that over extended time it will lead to evolution.
-----Supposedly, diversity comes from natural selection - on the cellular level there is extremely little diversity - and anyways natural selection, is not natural creation, instead those qualities which are 'good' survive, and those that aren't die; leading to less diversity not more.

the bonus!
global warming: Al Gore, he created the internet, so I can't use it to refute him. I'm sure there is a law for it... Probably covered under the Fairness Doctrine

Well finally i found the correct translation...or so i hope.
Anyhow imagening a explosion of nothing created 500billion galaxies with it's stars.

Now the earth being at it's right orbit, and vegitacion as well as water appears.
Now cientists do believe RNA can create life due to a expiriment in 1953.
However to create life you need DNA, RNA and protein molecules, and yet you need protein molecules to create RNA and RNA to create protein molecules.

Many cientists such as dr. Carol Cleland who does believes in evolution says the chances of life being created by a RAMDOM mix of protein molecules and RNA are astronomically slim.
She simply believes humanity has yet to find how we came to be..

This is another reason why the big bang and the evolution are theories, not facts.

@heat

I believe in creationism, i can't believe all the coincidences are just coincidences.
Now if you were to believe in this i could understand the "mind" would be too complex for humans too understand, wich i believe to be because we don't use our brains at full capacity.
As for "what" would have created god i could reply with "was time created?" i believe time has no beginning and has no end, but the comlexity of even reasoning about something thats doesn't have a start is beyond the human mind.

Ps. Sry for gramer posting from my phone stinks.
Pss. I can't see the size of this post till i post it, sry if it's freakishly huge.

The Big Bang Theory is currently the best explanation of how the Universe we know today came to be.
The Big Bang was not an explosion in scientific terms, the proper term/definition is expansion of mass and energy.
What happened before that is still unknown, but we know that the Universe is expanding (at an increasing rate fyi and will continue to do so) and models show that it originated from a single point.

A hypothesis is an assumption of something (observation). One needs to conduct experiments to see if the hypothesis was correct or not.
A theory is an explanation of how something works or how it happened, with several experiments & data validating the theory. Saying a theory is just a guess/Hypothesis is outright FALSE. For a hypothesis to become a theory, it requires rigorous research, experimenting, data collection and analysis over long periods of time. Examples are Theory of Evolution & Quantum Mechanics.
A law (in scientific terms) is something that will happen(as many experiments show), unable to be proven wrong. Examples are the Law of Thermodynamics & Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation.
Getting tired explaining this over and over again!

Evolution is just change over time. It does not necessarily mean it's all about Life, it also means the change the Earth underwent throughout its lifetime for example. Natural Selection is the proper term to explain how life developed to what we know it today. Saying Evolution does not exist is like saying Gravity does not exist.
Also getting tired explaining this over and over again!

Proteins are composed of many amino acids, several experiments show that amino acids can easily be made both in space (link) and on Earth. http://www.nasa.gov/centers/ames/news/r ... _33AR.html
The experiment in 1953 was not about RNA, it was about the formation of amino acids using simple compounds (H2O, CH4, NH3 & H2). This Says that amino acids were able to be created naturally and eventually lead to the formation of Proteins. See Miller-Urey experiment.
Carbohydrates can also be naturally formed with atomic carbon and water (not only through photosynthesis). (Glenn Flanagan et. al., 1991.)
Carbohydrates are the building blocks of sugar which enable the formation of RNA and DNA.
Amino acids can also be generated with the same process but with ammonia included. (D W McPherson et. al. 1987.)

About Dr. Carol Cleland, considering the size of the Universe, the amount of mass it has, the vast amounts of elements it has, Galaxies, Stars ect. Life can very well easily develop. Probes have confirmed that Mars contained organic materials, probes found amino acids in Meteorites (they were formed there), Europa (Jupiter's moon) may also contain life (organic compounds & microbes). Organic materials can still develop despite extreme conditions (extreme heat & cold, vacuum and radiation). No coincidences here.

I say it again; do some research of your own first.

Ever heard of the Anthropic Principle? Basically, it doesn't matter what the chances are that we ended up with a planet that can support life, because if it didn't happen we wouldn't be here to observe it.

In general, for those who don't believe Evolution/Natural Selection, Global Warming (not sure how serious Bryant was), or the Big Bang: Where are you hiding your strong evidence against them? If you have that evidence, I'd like to update my beliefs. If not, why are you disagreeing?

Wow. I got here really late(been at the hospital with my mom). A lot of people have addressed a lot of things here, and better than I could. So I will do two things, go quickly over what I believe, then address one of your first issues that has not been talked about yet.

What I more or less believe: I believe in evolution, natural selection, some form of creationism, global warming(I just don't believe it's all our fault, as most people insinuate) the big bang (untill something that makes more sense is thought up), and I believe in god (just to make that clear. I'm a christian (not one of those ridiculous sub-groups like Catholics or Mormons, I'm just a Christian)). Riddle me this: If god did create us all, which I believe one way or another did, what is more spectacular? 7 days? Or millions of years? I pick the latter(millions of years).

Now to address something.
(SWGO)Minas_Thirith wrote:Besides this, humans are supposed to be [well manicured man] sapiens like cience discribes them, so we are mamells and just inteligent animals...well i can get this logic besides the point where we don't act like animals.
Meaning we pollute the earth we live in, a dog doesn't take a dump in his house by figuere of speach, an animals do not reason, do not think, they work on an instinct, we are the only life form on this blue marble that doesn't.
We use animals for testing, the point being that humans do not act like animals, our brain is nothing related to them, also cientists discovered that both our bodies and our brains are made to last forever, while the bodies and brains of animals aren't...furthermore cientists cannot explain why after the third cycle we start dying...

You've come to the right place to ask that funnily enough, because it is my belief that humans are nothing more than just slightly more intelligent animals. Allow me to show the holes in your logic and show what my logic is as simply as I can.

First off: Animals do think. Animals do think, remember that. If you don't think they do, then guess who really isn't thinking much here? Perhaps I need to further explain the difference between instinct and thought. An animal that uses instinct over thought would be an ant, or an amoebae. Instinct is simply emotions, and drives to do something, like eating, and mating.
Example of animals thinking: Some monkeys look out for eachother, and watch for predators when they are on the ground eating. The lower you are status wise in a group of monkeys, the less food you get to eat. The leader or alpha, get's the most to eat. While the Omega gets the smallest ammount of food. Scientists have observed Omega status monkeys making the call that warns other monkeys for predators. All the monkeys scatter for the trees and safety, while the Omega monkey who lied goes and gets some food without competition.
What does this mean? The monkey was thinking about a predator that was not there. Then decided to lie. You can not lie without the ability to think.
This is one example, I could give you many.
Now, secondly: Humans do not have instincts. Allow me to explain the many ways humans have instincts. I can immediately prove that humans have instincts with simple questions.
First, let's deal with human attraction. Allow me to make this clear, attraction is not love. I'll deal with love later.
Why do humans find breasts attractive, and usually bigger the better(with a certain limit)? Instinct. Let's talk about the main function of breasts (beyond producing milk for young, which does). Breasts store fats that can be used in times of famine. The bigger the breast, the more fat it has. The more fat you have, the better chance you will be able to survive long enough to give birth. Males want females with the best chances of giving birth, whether they know it or not, and whether they want children or not.
Why do humans find lips to be attractive? Instinct. The human lip allows us to pronounce many sounds, which allows us to form words, which allows us to form complex languages. The better you can speak, the better you can survive. The better you can survive, the more attractive you are.
Why do humans find wide hips to be attractive? Instinct. Wider hips allow for easier birth. The easier you can give birth, the easier you can give birth, the more attractive you are.
Now lets deal with the most basic of instincts. Fear. Fear comes from the instinct to survive. Whenever you are afraid of something, it's because your brain is worried about the safety of your well being (your brain may be wrong, but it's still instinct). Some fears make a lot of sense and are easier to explain than others.
Fear of heights: Self explained. Falling from a height can kill you. Your brain would like to avoid you dieing if it can.
Fear of [insert animal, i.e. spider]: Self explained. Some animals can kill you.
Fear of death: Self explained. Death can kill you.
Fear of the unknown: This is perhaps the most difficult fear, the most important, and the fear that prevents progress. If you don't know about something, you don't know if it is safe or not. If you are uncertain, your brain says that the best option is to fear it, better safe than sorry. This can be anything, it just has to be something of which you have little or no knowledge of. Fears of gay people, new foods, other religions (i.e. Muslims, most americans think that they are just a bunch of suicidal savages. in truth Muslims are just fine, nothing really wrong with them. Governments and extremism always causes problems with any religion, including Christianity), fear of new places, fears of new animals. Anything.
Now, new topic. How can a human be an animal, when humans are the only animal with gay people? Well first off, humans are by far not the only animal with gay members. I couldn't even list all of them here, so I'll just link you to wikipedia, the page where it lists all known animals that display homosexuality. LINK
How can humans be animals when we pollute the Earth you ask? That's beyond simple. The ability to pollute the Earth in quantities that we do requires a high level of intelligence to build to machines to produce the pollution. You also have to have appendages(hands) that can manipulate things, Dolphins may be as smart as us, or at least quite intelligence, but they do not have hands to build things.
A question you did not bring up, but a lot of other people bring up is: Humans are the only species to wage war, thus we are not animals. Well this logic, as a lot of false logic, arises from ignorance as usual. Ants, functioning off of instinct, wage war with other ant colonies, killing them all and taking their food. Now, technically it's hard to find species that wage war. This really arises from you need a lot of numbers for it to really be a war. Ants is a good example, but if you take away the war part and just talk about animals that fight each-other in groups the scope becomes much broader. There are tribes of monkeys that raid and kill other monkey tribes.
Humans test an animals because we can. Simple as that, and FYI, humans test on other humans as well.
Now, I don't know where you heard that the mind and body of humans are made to last forever, because it's not. Humans deteriorate just like any other species.

If you have any more questions, I would be more than happy to try and answer them.

At the end of the day, just because evolution exists, it doesn't mean god is any less impressive. We are just seeing how he/she/it works.

Wait, if we knew what is the answer to the universe, life and everything, our being here wouln't be so intersting expirience, right?
