this may be the most serious case of a tl;dr I've ever seen. Wow :P

As far as where I stand... short and sweet, I don't know how the earth and us came around, but I believe that God is behind it. Coulda been evolution, creation, whatever. I don't give a [m'kay] personally, cause I'm here and I've got a life to live, and no time to waste speculating on this or trying to convince other people I'm right about it.

I however do have a couple of things to say about the spontaneous generation theories...

first, I'd like to point out that even the most simple possible organism today is just a bit too complex to be formed by a lightning bolt hitting a puddle or something of that sort. The DNA and cell membrane alone are far enough complexity.

Roughly the same argument, in a lighter mood:

Atheism, because we have better things to do on Sunday mornings.

And Jocco, it's a bit of an assumption to say we thought there was nothing. We just think there's not a God. :P For all you know we could all think matter is timeless and eternal. And worship it in our basements while eating Christian babies and listening to heavy metal.

Here is my Contribution to 50 pages :)

From reading the different responses, I noticed a glaring problem that a lot of people are mistaken with.
I see statements that science is contradicting itself, and the bible contradicting science or the other way around, and the truth couldn't be further off. Actually the bible is very much in agreement with science:

For example
Job 26:7 - The earth hangs upon nothing
Isaiah 40:22 - The earth is round
Amos 5:8 - The water cycle

These are just some of the examples of scriptures you can find, and all of these statements were made well before scientist proved these theories true. So we see that while the bible is not a science book and does not claim to be one, it is not in conflict with science at all.

But what then about evolution vs creation?

First it is very important to remind everyone that evolution is NOT a scientific fact. It is a theory. Science is defined as a branch of knowledge or study dealing with a body of facts or truths systematically arranged and showing the operation of general laws. Many scientists today all agree that while the theory of evolution is based on some facts there are still many unanswered questions and holes in the argument. Whether you believe in evolution or creation by God, both require faith. Yes evolution like creation is based on faith.

The reason for this misconception, comes from the fact that in schools today, evolution is taught as a fact, it has gained the weight of public opinion and most little has been done to oppose it. Even most religious organizations who claim to believe in creation have woefully failed to explain creation. Many, who go to church, don’t understand why they believe what they do. This is why it is important for people to take matters into their own hands, educate you, read the bible. Don’t be skeptical read it with an open mind, be objective, remember to read the whole context and understand what you are reading before judging it and making conclusions.

As said before. Both are ideas that must begin with faith. Yes I do believe in God. I believe that God created the earth no not in 6 literal days, but over a period of time, those are my beliefs. I have drawn my conclusions based on what I have read in the bible, what I know about this planet, & human life, and from my own experiences in learning about God and the fact that anyone who wants to can draw close to him. These are my beliefs, you don’t have to agree with them, but let’s keep the facts straight

Sorry, I have to disagree with you about faith. Faith is a form of belief, but more specifically, it's belief without evidence. Those who believe that the theory of evolution is accurate do so because of the available evidence. In order for it to be considered a "theory" in the first place, it has to be considered satisfactorily tested and proven.

Someone....please tell me that this Hstar guy is joking. The Earth isn't a circle. It's a sphere. Amos 5:8 is an incredibly simple version of the water cycle. it doesn't even mention transpiration. And if we want to be picky the Earth technically hangs on the Sun's gravity if you will . Now if it had gone into detail and completely nailed it then I would acquiesce...but it's very vague and simplified.

Earth is a circle if you look at it 2 dimensionally... circle, pi... the secret of life is 3.14 pieces of apple pie. How could we have missed this?!

However that's another reason i don't believe in it, life is very complex, from what i recall 1gram of dna contains info as much as 1billion cd's can take.
Besides this humans have only been capable of creating bases for the base of a cell....everyone can agree that humans are very intelegent beings aka we have an enourmous capability to learn new things.
However as intelegent as we are we are uncapable of creating life, then i do wonder, if humans are up till today unable to create then how could life with it's perfect design create itself?
