You can't read things In bits and pieces and pick and choosing what you want to respond too.
I said the bible is NOT a science book, but in scientific areas is does not conflict. which was my point. Put things into context.
And yes circle of the earth is valid, this was written a good 1000+ before other people dispelled that the earth was flat.
The water cycle, really? OF COURSE it was a simple explanation, it's not a lesson in science.

Also I think I need to clarify what was meant about evolution being faith based, the point is that the evidence that evolution is based on is incomplete. there are many unanswerable questions, which means for someone to make the leap from believing it to be fact, you must have faith that the evidence did exist.

and BTW @ Mandalore, I have not gone the route of personally attacking you, please don't attack me. If you want to respond, respond. Don't don't start your posts claiming my beliefs to be a joke.

I didn't personally attack you, I personally attacked your beliefs ^_^

And there are quite a few representations of the Earth being round. The earliest maps show a flat earth with a spherical sky. And to be honest it doesn't explicitly say that the Earth is round. It says something about a sky fairy sitting above "the circle of the earth" which would align with maps that have come out of the near east. And if you agree with the observation that the Old Testament was written during the Jews' captivity then it would align even more. And besides even if we agree that the Bible is explicitly speaking of the Earth's shape, why not give the mathematical answer to Earth's circumference seeing as it would only take another century or two for some Greek to figure out pretty accurately the Earth's circumference. It's that kind of detail that would validate this solo act of a God. (Whatever happened to his wife?) And whatever happened to Lillith? WHY ARE ALL THE WOMEN IN HIS LIFE DISAPPEARING

And apparently it does contradict...just a tad...when it comes to biology. Two members a successful species does not make. And yet the Bible continually repeats this concept. Inbreeding must have been the big thing back then.

Guys, the only way this thread is gonna reach 50 pages is if we hijack it and move to another controversial topic.
Any ideas?

50 pages is 500+ posts...

I hope you realize this.

All i realise is this thread is gonna die before it gets to 25.
SO maybe since i can predict other's posts i can just post something, and give the answer to my post, then reanswering and then posting an image of some dude having a face so ugly he hides it with his hand
And that would be the circle(ya'll gonna claim it's a sphere) of lif...err forum necroing without needing another reply while the original topic is kinda dead.

Won't be able to partake for a few days, so you guys have to get by without me for a while. :whistling:
Concerning Hstar's comment about Theory...
Yanoda wrote:A hypothesis is an assumption of something (observation). One needs to conduct experiments to see if the hypothesis was correct or not.
A theory is an explanation of how something works or how it happened, with several experiments & data validating the theory. Saying a theory is just a guess/Hypothesis is outright FALSE. For a hypothesis to become a theory, it requires rigorous research, experimenting, data collection and analysis over long periods of time. Examples are Theory of Evolution & Quantum Mechanics.
A law (in scientific terms) is something that will happen(as many experiments show), unable to be proven wrong. Examples are the Law of Thermodynamics & Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation.
Getting tired explaining this over and over again!

I know MT must be getting tired of me repeating myself several times

Cheers

BTW yanoda you said chemical reactions aren't random, but what about biological ones?

Well then, I guess it's time we had "The Talk" with MT. As he seems to think we can't create life.

You could say we can't create life artificially, but that could be debated as well.

Same thing practically, our bodies make countless chemical reactions throughout the day to produce energy (products and waste included). Buffers and catalysts are constantly used to jump start reactions and preventing them from getting too volatile, otherwise we'd explode (in extreme cases) or just die (from lack of energy).
I wouldn't generally recommend Wikipedia but, just have a short read on 'Chemical Reaction' to give you a vague idea. Too short on time to search for a proper article.
Strong Force, Electromagnetic Force and Weak Force mostly govern how atoms, particles, compounds, molecules etc. behave and interact.
If reactions were all random, we wouldn't be able to tell what we would get from reactions.
I know it's short, but I'll make it up in the next days :punk:

Cheers
