I'm not making an argument. Just stating that WD is right about the Federal Reserve and how it needs to be shut down.

@Heat I didn't read much of those mostly because they are complete [poo]. I'll just take #97 for example. Improved relations with Iran? Iran wants us to get out of their country and stop occupying them. We brought democracy to Iran and taught them to have voting, but then ignored their decision when we didn't like it. Iran hates us more than ever now.

I think you meant to say Iraq.

And heat proves my point by not really reading what he writes. Just spew out a party line and muddy the waters. So glad we didn't fall into that trap.

I can only think of one completely independent pull out of a recession. Nazi Germany 1930s. The rest of the world floundered while Germany rose. Too bad about Hitler's meglomania. If he had been assassinated in 1939 he'd be regarded as one of the greatest political leaders of all time.

And if you think FDR's New Deal was successful, ha!

As for economic policies, our free trade embrace has maimed us in comparison with the Chinese who laugh at us behind neo-mercantilism.

I'll stop spewing "party lines" when your Republicon gang members do.

Ok, googled it and found this list on a Facebook page (Umad?):

1. Saved the collapse of the American automotive industry by making GM restructure before bailing them out, and putting incentive money to help the industry If he let them go, they would be forced into bankruptcy, where they could renegotiate their union contracts and restructure from the ground up. Instead, he gave them money so they could continue operating without dealing with the real problem - which is the unions.

2. Shifted the focus of the war from Iraq to Afghanistan, and putting the emphasis on reducing terrorism where it should have been all along he only could try to finish what bush started. I don't agree with us being in Iraq in the first place.
3. Relaxed Anti-American tensions throughout the world No..not hardly..and pissed off many that used to like him.
4. Signed order to close the prisoner “torture camp” at Guantanamo Bay thereby empowering the terrorists.
5. Has made the environment a national priority, and a primary source for job creation nothing notable.
6. Has made education a national priority by putting emphasis and money behind new ideas like charter schools, but speaking directly to school children in telling them they have to do their part. you mean his wife
7. Won the Nobel Peace Prize so the French could 'stick it' to Bush.
8. $789 billion economic stimulus plan that didn't work.
9. Appointment of first Latina to the Supreme Court Gee...given all the Latina's in the U.S., it's a sound move toward getting the Latina vote
10. Attractive tax write-offs for those who buy hybrid automobiles Don't own one...many don't
11. Authorized construction/opening of additional health centers to care for veterans
12. Renewed dialogue with NATO and other allies and partners on strategic issues. resulting in...?
13. Beginning the process of reforming and restructuring the military 20 years after the Cold War to a more modern fighting force… this includes new procurement policies, increasing size of military, new technology and cyber units and operations, etc. That was begun by Bush after Clinton [m'kay] it all up
14. Better body armor is now being provided to our troops Thank you Dept of Defense
15. “Cash for clunkers” program offers vouchers to trade in fuel inefficient, polluting old cars for new cars; stimulates auto sales 1. The policy benefited political interests/2. The policy sucked revenues from other industries ailing from the recession/ 3. The policy destroyed goods that had value..which means it destroyed value. / 4. The policy distorted the used-car market by reducing the availability of cars desired especially by the working poor. Why, in the middle of a recession, would anyone want to drive up the price of goods used by society's most vulnerable people? This may be the kind of thing socio-economic behaviorists don't think through; if they do, they're willing to look the other way for the sake of their supplicants. In any case, the mandatory destruction of a half-million used vehicles amounted to the price of basic mobility going up for lower-income people. / 7. The policy successfully purchased a prophecy that would have fulfilled itself within two or three months. Most of the people who participated in Cash for Clunkers would have bought cars soon anyway. As car review company Edmunds famously pointed out, the policy shifting buying patterns forward a few months at most. Here are the results: "Nearly 690,000 vehicles were sold during the Cash for Clunkers program, but Edmunds.com analysts calculated that only 125,000 of the sales were incremental. The rest of the sales would have happened anyway, regardless of the existence of the program."5 The analysts also concluded that the program ultimately cost taxpayers $24,000 per vehicle./
8. The policy subsidized people to make unwise purchases. It may take more time to determine this fallout, but—like subprime mortgages and artificially low interest rates—some people had incentives to get into cars they would have wisely avoided.

16. Changed the failing/status quo military command in Afghanistan Not sure what you mean here
17. Closed offshore tax safe havens
18. Deployed additional troops to Afghanistan I'll give the writer that one
19. Ended media “blackout” on war casualties; reporting full information Need 'economic' achomplishments
20. Ended previous policy of awarding no-bid defense contracts
21. Ended media blackout on war casualties and the return of fallen soldiers to Dover AFB. economic?
22. Ended previous policy of cutting the FDA and circumventing FDA rules sigh

I'll need to tackle this later. My break is only so long. Some of the later ones are good...some are even 'economic' related. But despite all you listed, he doesn't really know 'business'! He doesn't know what businesses need from the government to create an environment where businesses can succeed and increase our GDP. That is what drives our economy. That's the stuff I'm referring to. And as I said, he has not 'saved' Wall Street. He simply allowed the printing of more money to slow it's eventual collapse. It'll climb and fall over the next year or two, but once inflation hits 10%, those bubbles will collapse and take the economy with it. This delay will only make the fall much worse and painful for the U.S.

Many Americans would still not want to implement the actions Hitler did to reinvigorate Germany's Economy.
It involved Keynesian Economics, something (I assume) many conservatives would dislike.
Massive employment in infrastructure (Autobahn) through government.
All needed materials, work, machinery for rebuilding infrastructure were supplied by businesses and factories within the country, both large and small.
Giving of cheap government loans for businesses and factories to modernize machinery, buildings and equipment.
Same thing with farmers to improve output and production.
Government use of MEFO Bills, so that everyone who took a loan had to buy from companies/businesses from country the MEFO bills were designed.
Unemployment almost reached 0% due to these actions.
Initial large Government investment would be required.
Low unemployment would increase tax revenue and would reduce debt.
May take time until the initial investments (debt) from government is paid.

Cheers

I'm sorry WD but rich people aren't businesses, they're money hoarding asses. Those tax cuts to the rich really didn't work out well for us but it worked out just swell for them.

Actually I ment Israel. I was tired before I wrote that lol.

Half of those things on that list Obama did very recently so he looks like he did more and more people will vote for him in 2012. Sorry to say this but ANY of the GOP candidates would beat Obama. Even most of the Democrats are tired of him.
