Just wanted to point out that Ron Paul may be running as a Republican this year but he has said many times that the party he's on doesn't matter to him. Both parties are pretty much the same. In 2008 he ran as third party and got censored even more than this year. He's only Republican this year so he won't be completely ruled out by mainstream media.

There's little doubt Ron Paul could make a good President, but if he's not the main choice for the Republicans, I fear he'll run Independent (with no hope of winning) and end up getting Obama re-elected due to the vote split on the conservative side. Reminds me of Ross Perot. His vote splitting enabled Clinton to defeat Bush #1.

RP will not run as an independent. He has said it a million times. The media keeps asking him so people think he will. Being the gentleman that he is, he will not say in absolutes so he will not give a definite "no", but he has said the chances of him running independent are 0.01%.
Even if he did though I think he would still win.

If I had to rank the viable candidates (both GOP and Democratic) in my order of preference, my list would look something like this:

(1) Jon Huntsman
(2) Barack Obama
(3) Ron Paul
(4) Mitt Romney
(5) Newt Gingrich
(...999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999...) Michele Bachman, Rick Santorum

If Huntsman doesn't receive the GOP nomination, I hope to goodness he will seek the presidency as a third party candidate. If not, Obama will have my support.

I agree that Huntsman would be nice. I hope he makes vice president. Obama, however. ¬¬

I think it's about time that we stop electing politicians, and start electing people who can actually bring skills to the table. At this rate, I honestly don't see America holding out for more than another 20 years at best, and that makes me pretty damn sad. I used to love this country, but i'm not sure i'm on board with where it's going.

So many here are against Politicians and Government?
You do realize that would lead to Anarchy (absence on any political authority or government)...

What needs to be done is change the governmental and political system where corruption has less chance of arising, but that's an Utopian idea unfortunately.

Cheers

Who said we were against government? I'm not a goddamn anarchist, i'm saying that career politicians are a scourge in our country. Those in the House don't even bother having opinions of their own, since going against the party line will [m'kay] with their re-elections. If only there was something that we could do in order to keep people from serving in the same position for three decades, like, I dunno, a [m'kay] term limit?

And i'm getting sick and tired of people saying that "Utopian" ideals aren't worth following. You strive for perfection in order to be extraordinary; if you don't try to eliminate all corruption, then you're a [poo] person to be in charge of a government. And yet here we have a bunch of people who don't know what a goddamn server is arguing about SOPA, without actually arguing for or against it; they're just butting heads, having a little [m'kay] pissing match, and getting absolutely nothing done as per usual. Meanwhile, the economy is falling apart, the educational system is stupid as hell, and corruption is running rampant.

Politicians aren't a government. Politicians are dickheads, simply by nature of their job.

That's for anyone who thinks one party is better than the other. If you do, then you are playing right to the divisions they create between us. This is how that red, white and blue [Richard] gets shoved up your ass while you ceaselessly bicker.........

Narg, you're my new friend. :appl:

I hate both parties right now, I consider myself an Independent. As my hero, Lewis Black, said: "I don't know if you noticed, but our two-party system is a bowl of [poo] looking in the mirror at itself."

Oh, and down with the Federal Reserve. It's a bank like all others, not controlled by the government, don't like the "Federal" part of the name confuse you.
