Help I want to fly.....

Alright. I am hoping someone has run into this same problem and found a fix for it because it's driving me crazy. My computer seems to crash every single time I jump into a star fighter.

This happens also in single player mode so I know it's not due to the added load of multi gameplay

In space missions everything is just fine until I jump into any star fighter. Note that as long as I walk around in the hanger everything is fine. But as soon as I take off and fly out into space the screen locks up and I have to restart the computer.

If anyone knows whats wrong I would be grateful for some advice. I'm fine guarding our hangers, but sometimes I just want to fly

I have the actual game discs that I use to use, and I bought the steam version hoping that would fix it, but no er what the same problem keeps coming up.

If it's needed here are the specs on my super box:
Intel Core2 Duo 2.67 GHz
4GB RAM
GeForce GTX 260
Running Windows 7 (64 bit)

Google would be the best way to find your answer.
Here are some steps you can try to hopefully resolve the issue.

Set the game to compatibility mode to XP. Right click on shortcut of the game, select properties, then compatibility. Check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for:", then select XP Service Pack 3.

The problem can also be caused by the sound drivers. Download the latest drivers and see if it fixes the problem. If not, try disabling them and see if it still crashes (you won't have sound though in game).

Others have reported that having a mic plugged in also resolves the issue.

I had similar problems a way back....I resolved it with a video driver change. Some newer drivers don't like old games.Try an older driver.
