I've actually posted this a few months back on the other "Book to read" site. Ann Rice. The author of the book made into a movie; "Interview with a vampire". She's written a few books about "Lestat", he's the vampire played by Tom Cruise in the movie. One of the best one that I read by her was "Memnoch the Devil"...this book is about the Devil trying to "intice" Lestat to join him in Hell. The Devil (an interdimensional being)...takes Lestat to Hell and to Heaven. The Devil also takes Lestat back in time...to the day that Jesus was being crucified....Lestat saw Jesus all bloodied during "The Passion", as Jesus is being paraded through the streets. You have to read this book...it made me contemplate my faith...until I came to grips and realized this is a fiction book...that's how good this book was. Or something like that....I just heard alittle about it on TV. We have a Senator here in Wisconsin that makes all his aides read that book before they work for him.

"Eaters of the Dead" by Michael Crichton

"Eaters of the Dead: The Manuscript of Ibn Fadlan Relating His Experiences with the Northmen in A.D. 922 (later republished as The 13th Warrior to correspond with the film adaption of the novel) is a 1976 novel by Michael Crichton. The story is about a 10th-century Muslim who travels with a group of Vikings to their settlement.

Crichton explains in an appendix that the book was based on two sources. The first three chapters are a retelling of Ahmad ibn Fadlan's personal account of his actual journey north and his experiences with and observations of Vikings (probably from Sweden). The remainder is based upon the story of Beowulf"

Atlas Shrugged...isn't that the new Republicans bible? The book that says that rich people should be praised for keeping poor people working? Or something like that....I just heard alittle about it on TV. We have a Senator here in Wisconsin that makes all his aides read that book before they work for him.

I guess it depends on what your frame of mind is when you sit down to read it. If you're an adult who lives with his mom, it might not be your favorite thing in the world. If you work for a living and pay taxes, it'll get you really pissed off. It made me hate "extra" government and the leeches who feed off of it more than anything else. But hey, I don't want to hijack this dude's thread.

- Discworld by Terry Pratchett (His humour and characters will have you hooked for months! There are several 'mini-series' within the series as a whole.)

- Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple Series by world-renowned 'Queen of Crime' Agatha Christie (A little hard to get into, but definitely worth it once you are hooked!)

- Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Kane Chronicles, and The Heroes of Olympus Series all by Rick Riordan (Mythology in the modern world with oh-so-lovable characters)

- Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke (Dragons have been pushed to the edge of civilisation and are tasked with moving to the Rim of Heaven. Firedrake, Sorrel the Brownie, and Ben the human embark on 10-20 adventures as they make their way around the world, a tale of awesomeness, with the tinge of deception to make it interesting.)

- Fablehaven by Brandon Mull (Two children are introduced to the world of magical creatures living on preserves across the globe. The first book is rather cheesy, but the series develops into a fantabulous thriller by the middle of the second book. A plot to prevent the demon prison Zzyzx - or something like that - from opening.)
