Need Some Help

Postby WGO-Jango » Fri May 25, 2012 12:12 am

I need some advice, more precisely some suggestions. Today I was told by a co-worker of mine that the security agency we work had lost the contract for the site we were working. The contract ends June 1st and our regional office has yet to inform any of us that we may not have a site to work at or worse a job at the end of the month.

The only reason he found out is the director of security for the company our agency was contracted by told him all this and asked him if he would like to stay and work for the new security agency he was hiring. My co-worker said yes and then proceed to ask the security director if I could stay on also and continues on to vouche for me. Thanks to him the accounts manager of the new security agency talked with me for about an hour during my shift, asking me if I like this site and would I mind working for his company. Thanks to my co-worker I get to continue working where I work, which I love, and I still have a job.

How do I thank someone for something like that? I've already told him thank you but it just doesn't feel like enough. The man saved me from the Hell fire of unemployment and he deserves to be rewarded properly. I've never had anyone stick their neck out for me like that, especially since I've only known him for two months.

Depends on how much your willing to spend. I would think a nice dinner for him and his family (if he has any) would be appropriate. That's something I would like.

You have a nice friend there. I would try to find out what he likes. If it's reasonable (price and availability) then present it to him over a night out to dinner. Dinner should be a 20-30 dollar per plate occasion.

We have friends who's wife is a teacher. She tutored my 7 year old last summer, free of charge. They just had their 1st child today, and we plan to get them a couple of hundred on gift certificate. We know they will say "ya know guys...you didnt need to do that", but we recognize that reals friends are few and far between. And there is no value placed on that. Give it a little time...you may do more things socially with him/his family....the opportunity will present itself.
Hope this helps
Pootie Tang will draw you a picture of how he gonna kick your ass, then mail it to you ten days in advance. The picture gets there right? You're goin', "What the hell is this?" and then Pootie Tang knocks on your door, Promptly kicks your ass and you still won't know what happened to you!

Well this is what I know about him:
-He's in his fifties
-Has a girlfriend (which suggests he may have been married)
-Travels every weekend to somewhere along the east coast
-A veteran of Vietnam

god damn it no don't get them gift cards what on earth are you thinking

Gift cards are [m'kay] [poo], because every [m'kay] time I get one I realize that someone has paid more money than i've received to give me money that I can use in one [m'kay] place and that will perpetually have like 5$ on it. Unless you mean a debit card in which case that's fine. But do not give [m'kay] gift cards.

no, nothing gets me mad like gift cards and I don't really know why

That's patent-pending Mister and I don't think he'd appreciate one.

Invite him to dinner at a nice place? Sounds good to me.

A meal sounds good. It would give you a chance to talk about other things. Whether you make it yourself or go to a restaurant, I'm not sure. Making it yourself would show that you have put in time and effort for him.
