Using similar reasoning to Panama's backwards logic, I can go shoot people because they'd die someday anyway.
You're saying that because we're subject to many things that are harmful to our health, that it's
okay for someone to smoke. Only the sparkly god-child at the end of Mass Effect 3 has more twisted logic(sucks for you who haven't played the game yet (which you just lost)).
Well I'll tell you something, it's not okay. Matter of fact because of the reasons you stated it is even less okay. You're subject to many things that degrade your health, why add to them when you don't have to? There is no hypocrisy among us because smoking is a recreational choice. Drinking water is not a recreation. Eating food is not a recreation. Taking medication is not a recreation. Drinking diet soda could be argued as a recreation, but it's really not. Diabetic have to drink diet soda, or no soda at all. Which they are then left with water. Or milk, which doesn't really hydrate you properly.

Sounds like a quote from my life. My next door neighbor, Chuck, smokes outside. Ruined many an evening of my family's as well.

Yes. I'll berate any smoker, regardless of their physical health(the exception being men and women in the army and marines). Even if your body can handle it, what about the person who takes up smoking because they see you smoking? Don't think that you don't contribute to people smoking.
Every single smoker helps reinforce the idea that smoking is alright, even if they say they don't support it. Not everyone who smokes is going to be fine. Most people have some form of health issues from smoking.
I was waiting for someone to bring up obesity as a deflection. When did any of us say obesity was alright? We didn't. I certainly didn't. Eating too much and eating terribly unhealthy food is also idiotic, disgusting, and selfish.
There is a difference however. Not everyone who is fat ate too much food or ate cake after every meal. Sometimes their metabolism is slower, sometimes they get injured and can no longer exercise. Sometimes babies are born fat and stay that way.
Anyway, I think overeating is almost as bad as smoking when it comes to bad habits. Which is why I grew the [m'kay] up, changed my eating habits, and I've gone from 240lbs to 215lbs with little to no exercise in six months. I'm 72'' by the way. Lol if I was some 67'' guy and weighed 240lbs that'd be insane. I digress.
Bad habits can be broken. Even if they never should have started in the first place. If you're not addicted and if you smoke
just to look cool, screw you.
