Give a damn about anyone who is on the receiving end of the second hand smoke. If there aren't any great.

I was more talking about smokers in general not giving a damn. Your "piss off" comment just gave me the opportunity to back it up with a quote. If you are the exception to the common smoker who lights up without caring about anyone else that's great.

I use to have a neighbor who lit up outside every night because his wife wanted the smoke outside. The smell ruined many fine evenings when my family just wanted to sit outside and relax too.

How about if the topic was about eating?...
I hate fat people. I hate the way they look and the way they smell. Fat people should have to go outside to eat. Society isn't holding a gun to their head, but they keep eating. Its horribly unhealthy (insert random facts about diabetes, obesity, and health costs).
Still feel the same, or are all you who berate smokers in peak physical health too?

I grew up in a household where my Dad smoked heavily, as did my older sister. I'm sure the second hand smoke took 20 years off my life.
I was so used to it, that being around it didn't bother me. After a couple years of living in a smoke-free environment (back in the 1980's), I couldn't stand to be around it from that point on. Oh, and here's a story (circa 1979), I was making out on a first date with this super-hot girl (and a smoker) at her house. It was synonymous with 'licking an ashtray'. She was the first smoker that I ever went out with...she was also the last smoker I ever went out with, since after about 10 minutes, I had to excuse myself to go home. I barely made it to the door of my car, when I proceeded to throw-up and gag reflex over and over on the pavement. The taste of her mouth was disgusting and foul. Had i been a 'smoker', then I doubt it woulda made much difference. Anyway, if you're a smoker, then your breath stinks, and you won't hold on to a non-smoking girlfriend for very long, unless for some weird reason, she likes the foul taste in the same way dogs like to lick ass.

I believe everything you said except for the fact you said you were making out with a smoker in 1979. If that's true then grandpa you need to move along from the swbf2 crowd and start getting acquinted with shuffle board. :whistling:

Jam I've said it before and I'll say it again. Just cause we've gotten older doesn't mean we stop enjoying the same things we did in our younger days. Although..come to think of it..I ain't played Pong in YEARS. Ehem. I saw the very first Star Wars movie when I was something like 11 or so years old. I'll enjoy that movie till I die. It won't change my fascination and admiration for the movie. Or games for that matter. So don't fuss that us old folks are playing games. They're great stress relief..and just for A MOMENT...we're almost kids again. So Chill. When as old you are as we, enjoy your games, you will.

I don't care about the health of the person that smokes. They are a human being with free will. I care about the second hand smoke that others must endure because of the actions of the smoker. Imposing your bad habits on others is wrong. Worst we have to fear from an obese person is bad gas.

Your comparing apples and oranges. This isnt about whether smoking is good or bad for you. It's having the decency to not jeaperdize the lives of other people by your own actions. For instance, drinking and getting drunk affects you the user. But getting drunk and then going for a drive is an action that involves the safety of others.

As far as obese people driving up the cost of health care....right and smoking doesn't. At least that's a financial issue and not a life or death one.

This isn't something to get angry over. I'm not calling anyone in particular evil or stupid. Don't take it personally.

BTW - Sorry if the spelling is terrible, I have to respond from my phone.

Using similar reasoning to Panama's backwards logic, I can go shoot people because they'd die someday anyway.

You're saying that because we're subject to many things that are harmful to our health, that it's okay for someone to smoke. Only the sparkly god-child at the end of Mass Effect 3 has more twisted logic(sucks for you who haven't played the game yet (which you just lost)).

Well I'll tell you something, it's not okay. Matter of fact because of the reasons you stated it is even less okay. You're subject to many things that degrade your health, why add to them when you don't have to? There is no hypocrisy among us because smoking is a recreational choice. Drinking water is not a recreation. Eating food is not a recreation. Taking medication is not a recreation. Drinking diet soda could be argued as a recreation, but it's really not. Diabetic have to drink diet soda, or no soda at all. Which they are then left with water. Or milk, which doesn't really hydrate you properly.

Sounds like a quote from my life. My next door neighbor, Chuck, smokes outside. Ruined many an evening of my family's as well.

haasd0gg wrote:Still feel the same, or are all you who berate smokers in peak physical health too?

Yes. I'll berate any smoker, regardless of their physical health(the exception being men and women in the army and marines). Even if your body can handle it, what about the person who takes up smoking because they see you smoking? Don't think that you don't contribute to people smoking. Every single smoker helps reinforce the idea that smoking is alright, even if they say they don't support it. Not everyone who smokes is going to be fine. Most people have some form of health issues from smoking.

I was waiting for someone to bring up obesity as a deflection. When did any of us say obesity was alright? We didn't. I certainly didn't. Eating too much and eating terribly unhealthy food is also idiotic, disgusting, and selfish.

There is a difference however. Not everyone who is fat ate too much food or ate cake after every meal. Sometimes their metabolism is slower, sometimes they get injured and can no longer exercise. Sometimes babies are born fat and stay that way.

Anyway, I think overeating is almost as bad as smoking when it comes to bad habits. Which is why I grew the [m'kay] up, changed my eating habits, and I've gone from 240lbs to 215lbs with little to no exercise in six months. I'm 72'' by the way. Lol if I was some 67'' guy and weighed 240lbs that'd be insane. I digress.

Bad habits can be broken. Even if they never should have started in the first place. If you're not addicted and if you smoke just to look cool, screw you.

Please Wulfi..enlighten me if you could please to any reference I made that compares to your quote. I'm rather shocked at your twisted view of my postings. Why don't you add rape and genocide too. According to you, my stand on smoking is so horrific that you had to compare it too cold blood murder. You're sick Wulfi...you need help...psychological help.
