Drink a 'Red Bull' and figure it out. It's a 'Census Bureau' report with someone who studies this stuff. Saavy? 'Electorate' was the magic word in that whole paragraph.

Hey 40, the Mexicans are only trying to reclaim their territory that the U.S. annexed back in the mid to late 1800's. Remember? California, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, and Texas was once part of Mexico and Spain. As a matter of fact, we (U.S. Gov't) were planning on making Mexico a state after the Mexican/American War. Congress voted against it because of the cost to teach Mexicans english. The irony. Edit, I forgot Colorado.

Well...every time I go thru a McDonald's or Burger King drive thru, it would be easier to order something if I knew Spanish. :-| Anyway, like I said earlier, I don't hate the mexicans or anyone else. What I hate is simply the abuse of free handouts that minorities will eagerly take thanks to the present Administration and Congress. Before long, the Welfare Class getting their free stuff will far outweigh the working class, who will find it ridiculous to keep working so others may feed off their labours. We have high unemployment, thanks in part, to the breakdown in immigration engineered by pro-Democratic policies and weak border enforcement laws by previous Administrations.

Sorry guys...I'm just too close to the fire with what I do, and I'm sorry to side-track the thread by venting my frustration. I just want to see America succeed, and get rid of the crap that runs Washington and put people in there who actually give a damn about the future of America, instead of their own self-serving destructive agendas.

Dear Darth Crater, this has nothing to do with hatred of foreign races/religions. It is plain fact based on population statistics. I've never had a problem with anything you've ever posted before but that statement is just [m'kay] stupid.

No disrespect intended, but Darth Crater, citing statistics that indicate the (perceived) undesirable growth of non-working minorities in America is not racism, simply an assortment of politically incorrect facts.

It's the assumption that they are non-working that is the racism.
Also...that excerpt still does not come out and say Hispanics will become the majority in 2041, only that Whites will become the minority. Assuming that the BBC was reporting on the same report, then it will be a minority-majority...and Hispanics will account for roughly 30%...as I said in my original post.

"The projections show that the US population is expected to rise from 305 million people to 439 million by 2050, but it will be a population that looks quite different both in age, race and ethnicity.

According to the census bureau's statistics, people who regard themselves as Hispanic, African-American, Asian, American Indian, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander will become the majority by 2042.

Officials had previously projected that this change would happen in 2050.

The new projections suggestion that by 2050, minorities will account for 54% of the population and non-Hispanic whites 46%, down from their current 64.7% share. "
"Hispanics will see their population nearly triple from 47 million to 133 million, causing their share of the population to increase from 15% to 30%. "

Man, that means there's going to be more Mexican restaurants....as if there isn't enough of them. I, being Hispanic from Panama, hate Mexican food, and I swear, there is a new one opening up every damn week. I blame the white folks, STOP EATING THAT CRAP.

A very amusing phenomena I would colloquially label as 'fanatical American patriotism'. You will never find either of the above subjects discussed without patriotism entering into the equation. From there, it hardly takes more than a few words from anyone who is not running around spouting "America, [m'kay] YEAH!" to be labelled as a terrorist / ignorant foreigner / stupid 6 year old, or for concepts of etiquette, civility and respect for the opinions of others to instantly vanish.

And if you disagree, you need only look a few pages back at MD's miraculous de-evolution to personal insults as evidence. (Which, by the way, earned me a very sweet $10, so thank you MD. <3)

Such a segue is typical, and absolutely predictable. Why anyone would be surprised at it is beyond me.

Okay, now you're being offensive(again). So all Americans are uncivil fanatical patriots without a brain in their head? That's sure is what it sounds like.

Matthew's Dad (an exceedingly obvious patriotic retired-military man) only insulted you (though he did go way too far in my opinion) after you insulted his country.
What if I said I was eternally thankful I wasn't born a Canadian? I don't like you overly-polite hockey playing(oxymoron for the win), Canadian ham eating, moose riding, beaver killing Mounties. Wouldn't you be offended? Of course. That's offensive. Saying you are "eternally thankful" you aren't born somewhere is offensive, with exceptions. I'm glad I wasn't born it the Congo, not because I have anything against the Congo or Africans. The place just sucks by my not-so-high standards, as does most of Africa (disease, tribal wars, slavery(yes it does still exist), lack of clean water and food, etc).

Point is, don't go finger pointing at others when you started it.

questions. Will the older generation pay for educating a younger generation that
looks less like itself? And while the young population is a potential engine of
growth for the economy, will it be a burden if it does not have access to
adequate education?

Wow. So it appears that the New York Times is racist. I didn't know that.
