I can tell ya who will lose. The American people.

I like your sense of humor; unfortunately this isn't humor.

You're right, the fact that the government is absolutely useless and playing to it's own tune isn't funny at all. But the fact that you're still fighting so spiritedly for one side or the other is pretty hilarious.

I don't see how I'm fighting so spiritedly for one side...I'm very open to new ideas and for people to point out where I'm wrong and where they disagree.

Read what i'm actually saying, please. I'm not terribly hard to understand. I said that you fighting for one side or the other, i.e. any side at all, was hilarious. Both sides of the political spectrum are just in it for the fun of politics and/or the money, so picking a side is pretty much worthless. Not to mention it just reinforces an "us vs them" dichotomy, which really makes a whole bunch of sense considering we're supposed to be one country and yet we can't even put up a united front. Americans don't make up the government, Democrats and Republicans do.

I rest my case.

Actually, over time, Romney paid around 30% thru additional (and voluntary) charitable donations, but it averaged to around 13-14% due to tax deductions for the donations. The reason he pays so much less than you, is that his income is from 'investments' (which is taxed at a lower rate that you, me and everyone else is afforded by government to do btw). Government set that tax rate...not Romney. If he worked for a 'direct salary', he would have that portion of income taxed at 28% or even higher depending on the amount of his yearly salary. Don't blame him for being wealthy. He earned it thru his efforts to build businesses and personal investing. You'd do it too if you were savvy enough to try or accomplish it.

Why are we so indoctrinated with this idea that there are only two sides? There happens to be 5 Presidential candidates this election. Gary Johnson (Libertarian), Mitt Romney (Republican), Barack Obama (Democrat), Jill Stein (Green Party), and Virgil Goode (Constitutional Party). Maybe you all should look into some "third-party" candidates and see if they fit your ideals better. And before you say voting third-party is a waste of a vote, I'd say that a waste of a vote is voting for somebody you don't believe in...

Because there are only two sides that ever win, Samonuh. In actuality, the chances of any party that isn't Republican or Democrat winning is likely less than 1%, and don't bring up any instances where they've almost won because they're clear statistical outliers. And they still lost. Don't get all uppity, everyone knows there's more than two sides, it's just that everyone else already realizes that they're the only two that matter.

Yes, but it's that exact attitude that prevents third parties from growing and standing a chance. If you have a defeatist attitude about it, there's not going to be any change. However, if you get the message out and stay persistent, your odds of gaining support are far better. Gary Johnson is at 4% in the national polls. He needs a few more supporters to get in the Presidential debates. If that should happen, I genuinely believe support for him will skyrocket, almost like a Ross Perot or Jesse Ventura incident. And for the record, the Libertarian Party is the fastest growing in the United States.

Sure, sure, that's fair enough I suppose. But then, 4% in the national polls is nothing. Not to mention, if Gary Johnson does manage to get into the actual debates, that's when the Democrats and Republicans will smell a threat and probably gang up to crush the new competition. Even if that doesn't happen, all it takes is one little [m'kay] up from Johnson and the internet will jump all over it, along with all the news stations. In a perfect world, where everyone is reasonable, another party might stand a chance. We're in America.
