Beghazi is a disaster. It is the Blackhawk down of this administration.

Mistake#1 The potential threat on the ground in Libya on 9/11 was not given it's due
Mistake#2 BO's administration not move quick enough to help our people while it was happening
Mistake#3 BO's administration did not move quick enough to secure the scene once it was over
Mistake#4 BO's administration tried to put this off on a youtube video
Mistake#5 BO's administration continued on the campaign trail as the situation spun further out of control
Mistake#6 BO's administration assumed this would blow over

Listen, I don't fault this administration for what happened in Libya. It's an election year and they had other things on their minds, I get it. I also don't fault this administration for trying to blame this on a youtube video...nice try. It really shows how stupid you think everyone really is and you'll get no argument from me on that. I don't even fault the administration for trying to sweep it all under the rug and "let's move on, nothing to see here".

Here's what I fault this administration for, for being so goddamned lazy, slow and stupid in your EFFORT to cover up your mistakes. THAT'S what I find offensive. You're running a country in a very unpredictable world during an election year, [poo] happens, I get it. But when you screw up this bad and you make the decision to cover it up...do it right and do it fast. Don't insult everyone's intelligence and wander off to vegas, leno and letterman while the scene in unsecure. Secure the damn scene and get your hands on the paperwork on site BEFORE CNN does. You cut off your campaign engagements for a few days so you can "plan your response", aka - organize your coverup. You'll look good and presidential and plus you'll have control of the situation. The effort or lack of behind this coverup is what is so insulting to me. WD is 100% correct, Barack is lazy and has a very elevated view of himself.

The embassy called for help and none was sent. All it wouldve taken is an F-16 to buzz the place and all the jawas would've scattered. Obama does not have my vote anyway and i would think that refusing to protect Americans overseas would sour the vote of anyone connected to the military

I have an acquaintance that's a colonel in the Air Force and with the assets in place already they could've easily "buzzed" the compound in time. Fuel would've been the biggest issue but it was very doable.

... And then, after you've "buzzed" the second-largest city of an allied nation, what happens? Do the terrorists just pack up and go home because they're backward tribals who are scared of our sky gods?

No crater. Did I really not put enough words out to get my point across?
Buzz them and if they aren't smart enough to leave, then you buzz again with fire.
How about this?; protect our own. Obama didn't.

That reads exactly how I worded it.

You're now advocating an airstrike on one of our own buildings inside the second-largest city of an allied nation?

(For general reference for this thread, Location and timeline of the attack)

Ummm...Crater, if you know 'anything' about what was reported and military weaponry, i believe you would understand. One of the CIA operatives on the roof of the consulate building was 'lasering' a group of bad guys in the distance away from friendly assets. Simply put, one of the attack helos we have easily could have gotten there quickly and popped off a missile that follows the laser point where the CIA guy pointed it. Yes, the bad guys would have died who were lasered, as well as any others that were lasered and capped with these missiles. Fighters from Naval Air Station Sigonlla, Sicily easily could have gotten there inside 30 minutes and dropped laser guided bombs as well as missiles. I flew a Gulstream jet from Libya to Sigonella. It takes 40 minutes...and that is a 'corporate' jet, not a fighter!

Yes, the cock roaches would have scattered to the 4 winds thereby providing what our guys on the ground were begging for and needed, the chance to get the Ambassador and other friendlies out of there to safety...not to win the battle. Sovereign US soil was under attack. We had every right to go in and defend it, as the Lybians were unable to. The Lybian Army for the government of Libya is virtually powerless against the rebels who ousted and killed Gadaffi. They could not help and were too scared to assist.

I've flown Leon Panetta numerous times. He's a nice guy. He's a smart guy too. But he's full of crap to say that he, our the military or CIA didn't have enough info to act! Between all the radio traffic, text data and 'live video feed' from the predator drones overhead, there was simply no excuse. American lives were lost that didn't need to be. I'm sick of the lies and deceit coming from this Administration.
