@Yanoda

While this is true—that it is not right to only be concerned about the rich—I don't think that socialism is the answer. Socialism makes the rich people poor, yes—but it also makes the poor people poorer!!!!

So i'll climb up on the roof, then eat the candy so that I get fat, while the people handing out the candy watch me and everyone else who bothers to climb it get fat, thus cutting us out of the fiendish candy monopoly they have created. You can't trick me.

So you want to believe that since Obama wants to raise taxes on the top 2% from 35% to 39%, back to the Clinton rates, that this is somehow socialism?

That's perhaps an oversimplification. He has other policies, you know.

I am referring to ObamaCare, his social welfare policies, and his general attitude toward the wealthy. That last part is understandable though because the government built all businesses anyway :whistling:.

Yeah, I'm aware he has other policies. No, I wasn't oversimplifying, Yanoda's post was about money. With Obamacare, The “government” currently pays about 43% to 46% of all healthcare costs, mainly through Medicare, Medicaid, and the armed services.  When Obamacare is fully implemented, it is expected this amount will increase to 49.2%. It is a clear increase, but nowhere near a 100% government-paid program. The private sector will still be responsible for over half of healthcare. The whole "government takeover" claim certain people like saying is a lie.

For many businesses it will be more cost effective to just pay the $2,000 penalty and let the employees go get it themselves which is probably not going to pan out too well. On average its supposed to be around 8-12k to provide health insurance per employee. For individuals who opt not to get a plan its something like a $95 dollar penalty the first year then 300 increase per year. I'm not sure if you could offset the penalty by buying insurance one year then switching off or not. The amount of government jobs this act will create will be ridiculous. Then for businesses you also have to factor the cost of hiring people to track compliance with the act. Its not going to be pretty most likely.

you appear to be under the misapprehension that "government" somehow magically has money to pay for things like healthcare. Anything that is spent by the federal government has already been taken from working people or has been borrowed and will have to be paid back with interest by taxpayers. TANSTAAFL
