I lived in Cupertino about 2 blocks away from Apple HQ when I was in the Navy flying P-3 Orions from 1987 thru 1990. I had just gotten home from the Navy Base when that big earthquake hit. I couldn't stand up, stuff was falling down everywhere, and it sounded like a huge train was going right over my ceiling. All I could think was, "Oh [poo]! The fault line is gonna snap, the people on the east side of it are going to be rich in beachfront property, and I'm going surfing." The tremors lasted all thru the night. What a ride! Very scary!
