Most of you are probably aware of the recent Israel-Gaza conflict...how do you predict the conflict will end (Israeli invasion, ceasefire, Israeli Occupation)?

I'm gonna finally say something positive about Obama!!!!---based on the 2009 Cairo Speech, I would not have expected him to remain objective and quiet during the whole thing, but I guess the Administration is busy mopping up the Petraeus scandal and isn't getting tangled in anything else.

Hmm...there is talk about that, but I highly doubt it. Egypt has just gotten a new government, and I doubt they will risk entanglement in the conflict.

Do you think that Israel should invade? With me, I say it's hard to tell---if they don't, Hamas will probably get control again; if they do, then a lot of people (on both sides) are going to die. Based on news coverage, it seems as if Israel will invade.

Israel and Palestine have a long standing feud; both sides refuse to compromise, and both sides commit egregious war crimes. Neither is more deserving of territory that the other, though Israel was only created after WW2 as an "apology" to the Jewish who had been mass-murdered in the atrocious thing that was the Holocaust. While it may have seemed justified at the time, millions of natives were displaced, and the UN robbed millions of their land. So Palestine does have a stake to what is now Israeli land, though violence is unfortunate.

The Israeli Government has committed just as many crimes against humanity as the Palestinian leadership.

"Israel's attack Sunday, in which the Associated Press reported it was targeting the home of the Daloo family, flattened a two-story house in a residential neighborhood of Gaza City. Five women, including one 80-year-old, and four small children were among the dead, Gaza health official Ashraf al-Kidra said, according to the AP.

A fifth day of Israeli bombardments on the Gaza Strip killed at least 17 Palestinian civilians, raising the death toll to 71, with more than 500 injured, according to the official Palestinian Ma'an News Agency. So far three Israelis have been killed by Gaza rocket fire."

I'm not about to argue their politics, just sayin putting missile targets in neighborhoods is not a good plan.

Umm, I wouldn't call Israel's defending itself "a crime against humanity." When Palestinians put military equipment in civilian homes, they can't exactly complain when Israel kills their civilians.

While it is true that Palestinian land was taken for the creation of Israel, the Jews historically have greater claim to the land than the Arabs, and not much land was taken—look at how many Arab countries there are, and the size of Israel.

The mainstream media talks about how Israel doesn't have regard for the lives of Palestinian civilians (which isn't really true); rarely do you ever hear about how the only reason their civilians are being killed is because they hide military equipment in residential areas.

EDIT: Additionally, the prospect for a ceasefire is inherently unlikely—Hamas agrees to one if and only if Israel will lift its blockade of Gaza. It cannot do this, however, because it is trying to prevent the entry of weapons into Gaza. In general, a ceasefire usually means Israel ceases, Palestinians fire

This would be a great opportunity for Israel to covertly send a small force just over the border, and launch some mortars aimed at the 'Golden Dome of the Rock' and a few other surrounding non populated targets, pretending it was some shoddy aiming by Hamas. It's a win/win for the Israelis, since they get to level that mosque creating new real estate to rebuild the Jewish Temple, and Hamas gets the blame for doing it.

Jerusalem is barely in range of the largest rockets Hamas possesses, though. There's no way to ensure accuracy at that range, and Israel's Iron Dome system would probably stop anything that appeared to be getting remotely close.

More generally, I'm not sure what exactly Israel is going to do, but I don't see things returning to the status quo unless there's some last-minute intervention from outside.

This is what happens when Israel tries to do things a little nicer and gives the Palestinians their independence.

They should just invade and get it over with. And if Egypt is stupid enough to attack, however unlikely, let them. Israel will kick their military's ass back a couple decades again. The Israeli Air Force is one of the best in the world. Which in today's world, your air force really decides your military strength. Most of you should know/understand this already.

Actually, I'll change my statement. Their military is by far one of the best in the world(not just their air force), and I wish ours was more like theirs in some ways actually. Their policies regarding women and LGBT's have been and are superior to ours.

Any country stupid enough to attack Israel is welcome to a lot of pain.
