I feel persecuted by the Atheists. They get away with way to much [poo] these days. They don't believe in anything, so why should they care what others do? Give em some ear plugs if they don't want to hear it. They don't want to see it, walk away!

Learn what hypocrisy is.
Defined : A pretense of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles, etc., that one does not really possess.
Now the scripture I quoted states that happy is the one being persecuted. Did I say it was alright to persecute? No, people who do the persecuting are bad, mean, ignorant should I go on? I was describing how someone could react to persecution received. You are talking about the person who does the persecuting. You're talking about 2 different roles :sleep1:

Understatement of the day
3.14pi wrote:And BTW: you are an American, and you are Christian, hence an American Christian. So cut the "whole world is one and we're all a family" schtick .

In my opinion a Christian faith cannot truly be called a Christian faith if you define yourself first by the nation that you reside in. Let me ask you this, if you were (for example purposes only) a Catholic, living in America, and America went to war with France (Again for example purposes only) would you kill Catholics who are French?
It's plainly obvious that the whole world is not one, and I didn't say I was family with everyone, but I can positively say that I do consider fellow believers part of my spiritual family.
3.14pi wrote:I look forward to your response.

This is all you get, I won't be responding to you again, you obviously have an enormous amount of time on your hands and an unlimited supply of arrogance to dispense, so troll for debates with someone else.

Dude, try to keep the thread civil. However, I don't feel I misunderstood the whole "being persecuted or being the persecutor."

You are saying it's OK for a Christian to feel persecuted sometimes (not to be a persecutor). However, were a Muslim to feel persecuted, everyone would be going on some whole rant about how "nobody should ever feel persecuted..." Why? Because it's politically correct for Christians to feel uncomfortable but not for Muslims.

Unless you are calm enough to speak (metaphorically) with some sense of dignity, I'm not gonna bother giving your posts 1 second of thought. (And don't reply saying that you hope that I don't look at your posts or talk to you lol).

Warmest Regards...

Generally—I see what people mean with the whole "persecution" thing. There is an intangible stigma associated with being a deeply pious Christian, IMO. I am not one, but I get how people might feel that way.

I bet ya dollars to donuts that that was penned by a Progressive "intellectual". I'm guessing, but that sounds like something George Bernard Shaw would say.

Uh ok? That wasn't civil? Did I call you names? Did I curse at you? Did I go all caps and yell at you? Did I say you have an unlimited supply of arrogance.... oh oops was that the uncivilized part?
You started things up saying I was hypocritical..... You said to "cut the 'whole world is one and we're all a family' schtick" implying that what I believe was a joke..... If you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen.
Obviously you had no response to what I said so now you want to back track and cry foul that I'm being uncivil. Oh well I'm not really surprised.

Your still stuck on your whole politically correctness schtick (There I'll use that since it must be more civilized) where did I mention anything about Muslims??? To me if as a Christian your feeling persecuted for your beliefs that's a good thing because it's what Jesus said would happen to his followers. ?ow does that mean that its right for people to persecute for someones beliefs? Again NO. I really really hope that you can understand the 2 different roles you are talking about. There is the giver and the receiver

My post was completely calm and "dignified" enough, you just didn't have a real response for it.

There was an atheist group that came by a school not to far from mine and tried to sue because a cheerleaders sign read "God Bless" and other verses. Also my English teacher once told us how the God is a myth, the bible folklore, and how it supposedly is similar to older religions. And I agree, Muslims whine about persecution all the time for the stupidest things, and get away with it.

All Christians are being persecuted and most don't even know it. I see it (persecution) in public schools, kids sent home for wearing "Jesus loves you" T-Shirts but it's OK to wear a Pentagram or any heavy metal groups T-shirts or gear that advertises brutality, sex, and the "black arts". Perfect definition of hypocrasy. By our Christian standard, wearing a "Harry Potter" T-shirt is an abomination. As well as most popular music. While I am not "radical" with my faith, I don't usually subscribe to the hardliners but I do see their points. Christians are being silenced little by little as time passes. Take Christmas for example...the non-believers want to change the greeting from "Merry Christmas", to "Happy Holidays". How rude. You can not take "Christ" out of Christmas, that's an insult to our faith. Yet, it happens more and more each passing Christmas. We (Christians) are being persecuted all the time, but no one cares.

There's what I was looking for. The immense butthurt of 85%+ of the population being butthurt by less than 2% of it. My god us Atheists must be god damn resplendent if we can change the entire zeitgeist of a country. Granted, I mean we still can't legally hold any offices in several states. We're the most mistrusted minority even though we are out proportionally high level professionals and make up a good 90%+ of our highest science academy. And there's no way in hell you'll see an atheist president within my lifetime. But you know what, we can and will ruin Christmas for you, mwuahahahahahah even though I don't recall any challenges to that idea in itself. And if you think about it, Christmas is still a federally mandated holiday. And as for Islam, what special treatment do they get exactly? Because I live in Garden City, which is about five minutes outside of Dearborn which is the largest community of Muslims in the United States. Gotta say, they're probably more American than most of you. ;P

And I'm pretty sure the Happy Holidays thing has been around for a pretty long time, seeing as several other religions have holidays in the same two week stretch or so.

please don't go to the muslim subject again

and yes we are being slowly persecuted by atheists. You don't agree with homosexuality and you get called a homophobe. You don't agree with the theory of evolution and you are called ignorant. Do I need to continue?

You make the mistake of believing that all Muslims are a single, homogenous entity. It's simply not true, and Christians in this country are not persecuted in the slightest.

I attend a public school. Religious symbols are allowed for "all federally recognized religious groups." Kids can be suspended for wearing any garments in support of a Pagan faith - that is discrimination. And as to changing "Merry Christmas" to "Happy Holidays," I'd say this to you sir: you are free to choose how to address others when greeting them for the holiday season. The entire reason most companies have opted for "Happy Holidays" revolves around the diversity of holidays taking place at that time of year (Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, etc.).

I am loathe to the assumption that there is a "war on Christianity." It is simply not true, and, in fact, because of economic uncertainty and an appeal to the William Jennings Bryan-mentality of the late nineteenth century and to the Scope's Trial of the early twentieth, religion is becoming an evermore intrinsic part of our political playbook.
