[m'kay] wrote:Okay. So in schools, they're changing the lyrics of songs that have a very Christian bent. Because not all people who go to school are Christian. Because everyone still has to go to school regardless of their religion. What's the problem here again? Why exactly is changing Christian songs in schools such a crime, when if kids started singing songs of the Islamic faith you'd all [poo] enough bricks to build a new White House? There isn't a war on Christmas, we're just finally looking up and seeing "oh hey, a ton of other faiths have holidays around the same time, maybe we don't have to shove our values down their throats". Christmas is one of many, many holidays, and should be treated as one. And taking the Christ out of Christmas? [poo], I guess I and 90% of people I know shouldn't celebrate it, because we don't go to church that day. Aw shucks.
Agreed.
If you boil down the constitution to a single sentence, I think it would go something like this.
"You are free to do whatever you want, provided you cause no damage, physical or property, to anyone else."
America has become all touchy feely and sooooo concerned about "hurting peoples feelings". It makes me want to vomit. We actually have "hate crimes", which is more than a little Orwelian. No one, and I mean no one, has the right to tell me who I can and can't hate. Next will be "thought crimes", as in you thought about it, therefor you are guilty.
I despise all religions and everything they stand for, yet I wish people a "Merry Christmas". I am well aware that Christmas is simply a knock off of Yuletide, a holiday that has been celebrated before recorded history. Altering songs that have been around for decades is crossing the line big time. If people wouldn't be permitted to get all butt-hurt about stupid [poo], maybe this country could get past all the crap and move forward.
Don't get me wrong, I'm no racist. I'm an equal opportunity hater, I [m'kay] hate everyone.
