I fired the New Governor at a range recently. Sweet revolver.

Actually, genius, this is in the forum titled non-game discussions. We actually discuss things that aren't swbf too...

To imaim:

While that revolver Haas posted is cool, the six shots(?) are a big problem.

My favorite pistol is a 1911 .45 Colt Pistol, specifically the modern one S&W makes.

However, if you're only going to have one gun in the house for personal protection purposes only? Get a .9mm. While the 45 hits a little harder, you can hold a lot more 9mm in a magazine. Now for what 9mm you should get? I highly suggest the Taurus PT92. 17 round magazine, which is why I consider it a better weapon for personal defense than my favorite, the 1911 which has a 7 round magazine.

And it looks pretty affordable. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/prod ... s_id/13585

Also...
9mm = Good.
.45 ACP = Great.
.22 LR = Donkey ass.

Actually Imaim, I only endeavored the revolver due to personal protection gun training for my wife and three daughters. Yeah, it's only 6 rounds, but it's simple and won't jam or 'stove pipe' like an semi-automatic. It's perfect for a new gun user. However, one of my twins (Girl) freakin loves the high powered semis! I attribute that due her appreciation of firepower...yes...I may take a hit for this...from playing BF2. But hey, I'm a fed, and your genes spread to at least one kid and I loved guns way before gaming.

Bottom line, the 'revolver' like Haas posted, is a perfect beginner gun to stop an intruder. Can save a life, or give a victim the chance to escape from a rapist, robber or burglar. Easy to operate, easy to reload. :gunsmilie:

If you don't know how to handle a semi-automatic you don't have any business buying them. You need to know what you're using, how to operate it, how to clean it, etc. But it's not hard to learn. I don't see a reason to lose the better gun just because he's a beginner. If it's going to be the only gun they have, no reason to get such a revolver which is slow to reload, has few bullets, and is harder to handle. Get the better weapon now and save the money in the long run, assuming you'd replace the revolver eventually.
