So what do you think we should do? I see your point with the supply/demand, and I agree that a gun ban won't work, but what actions do you think we should take to stop gun violence? Should we give more money(or a directer) to ATF? My school has already talked about adding more security cameras, and the State of Texas is looking into arming teachers with handguns. Because I mean, come on, you have to acknowledge that gun violence is at least a bit of a problem.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with adding more security at schools. Gun 'violence' is commonly caused by mentally wacked or violent gang bangers and un-lawful people. However this Congressional 'we gotta do something' BS by Fienstien and other Congressional pukes, is nothing more than 'look at me and what I've done so re-elect me' crap. We need to 'commit' wack jobs to a facility to keep them out of harms way and Parents NEED to commit their wack kids for analysis as a start. Better background checks..absolutely. Can we catch them all...sadly no. There is literally nothing we as Humans can do to create the perfect system. The 2nd Amendment was to prevent Power-grabbers from creating a tyrannical government. As a bonus, ready-made Militias was the fore-Fathers 'experienced' backup plan. Keep the Government in-check, but also keep the Unions soil protected from Foreign intrusion and takeover.
To be fair, By no means did the Forefathers envision the school assaults we see these days. There's our dilemma. We have a Constitution, but as such, it was meant for Amendments based on the scene of the times. But as a citizen, who gives Power to Congress and the President, the Power MUST remain with The People. That being said, it is prudent that ONLY The People can allow amendments to the Constitution. Therefore, a National Vote MUST take place for any Amendments to be valid. It's the only way it can be accepted. As I said in a previous post, Sheriffs all over the Country will NOT accept Obama's Presidentisl interference. His Oval Office Edicts mean nothing, as it is NOT the 'Will of the People'. He simply is too arrogant to realize this common sense fact.

Amendments don't get passed or rejected based on national votes. They are passed or rejected through the officials Americans elect to Congress. This is Article V of the Constitution itself.

Do you not see how Polarized and self-centered our So-called elected congress is?!? A hugely important Constitutional Right like the 2nd Amendment cannot be left in the hands of such a divisive inept congress that exists at this very time. Look at their Approval Ratings! Do you seriously believe that a decision made by a group who cannot govern themselves will be accepted by The People?!? As I said, a National Vote is the only recourse. THEN the Congress SHALL vote the Will of The People...lest they be ousted from Power!

First step to lowering mass shootings?

Stop showing the shooters so much in the news. Why do we have so many shootings right now? Because one can trigger another mentally unstable person if they see on the news that shooters are made infamous.

Blame the media, not our gun laws, for the mass shootings going on right now.

I have no doubt that you are a very responsible competent adult who knows how to handle a weapon like an AK-47 but do you honestly think that anyone who can pass the background check is equally responsible and competent? I don't.

You would vilify me. You believe I am what is causing the downfall of this state? Simply because I don't interpret the Constitution the way you do?

I didn't know that's how you felt.

As I said in the previous thread, I'm not for banning "assault" rifles or limiting clips.
I don't think it would help much, and statistically these mass shootings are far less deadly than the everyday shootings, most of which are done with hand guns.

I am for tightening the black market for guns which means I support limiting the number of guns you can buy at one time or in a month. This would cut down on straw purchasers who travel to states with lax laws and bring back trunks full of guns for gangs and criminals. This would require universal background checks and it would be tough dealing with private sales.

I live in Chicago, I have people who work for me who have seen friends and family blown away for nothing at all. In some neighborhoods everyone has a gun - they are easy to come by and cheap and none are purchased legally. We can't solve the problems without addressing the societal root causes, but we can surely tighten up the black market making the guns harder to come by and more expensive.
