Not making an argument against your laughable "right" to have them.

There's nothing 'laughable' in the U.S. Constitution. Our Forefathers put alot of fore-sight and effort into protecting us as Citizens for future generations by writing this important document to keep this Country from becoming a Dictatorship and descending into Anarchy.

If you Strip the Right to Bear Arms away, then you have removed the most important final safeguard for Citizens to protect their rights and keeping Government in-check. The Fore fathers knew this. More and more rights will be taken away, and eventually, the Citizens are powerless to do anything about it. You actually think our rights are in good hands with Progressives like Obama?!? He ignores Congress (the voice of the People) whenever possible. He'd love nothing more than to re-write the entire document so he could 'remain' President for life and consolidate his overall power...to have it all! He doesn't even want Congress involved in the decision to raise the debt-ceiling. Such a person, if left un-checked, could concevably end up controlling the Military for many years by appointing his own Lapdog Generals/Admirals because he wouldn't need Congressional approval on who to promote....Ignore the Constitution, you then ignore Congress, ignore the rule of Law, and ultimately ignore the Voice of the People.

Venezuela comes to mind...many other countries too. Egypt's people are getting a bit pissed due to Mohamed Morsi's power grabs. You want to be like them?

1986(?) Assault weapon = Projectile weapon that can be or is fully automatic. Banned

2013 Assault weapon = Any weapon having the appearance of a military style weapon that is semi-automatic. This includes some handguns and shotguns. Ban coming soon.

2019(?) Assault weapon = Any weapon capable of firing more than one round in quick succession. This will include, but not be limited to, revolvers, all remaining handguns, pump and lever action shotguns and rifles and "quick load" black powder and pyrodex rifles. Ban will be called for.

2027(?) Assault weapon = Any weapon capable of ranged fire. This will include, but not be limited to, single shot rifles (including black powder), handguns and shotguns, bow and arrow, crossbows and air rifles. Ban to be shoved down our throats because we so willingly gave up our rights all those times before.

And the crime rate shoots through the roof....

How many countries have re-elected extremely unpoular Leaders, even though there was no conceivable way 'legally' that the person could have been re-elected? Iranian President Abdejanblab (whatever his name is) did it, with the support of the clergy. The Syrian president (thru his father before him) and Lybia's Gaddafi (before he was overthrown by the people thru weapons use), rule/ruled under a very un-constitutional government in a regime of anarchy. Why? Because the people do not have 'rights'. They just gotta suck it up otherwise. How about President Saddam Hussein?? He's a great example. Completely unpopular, but very feared. In a Democracy, he would not have been allowed to have lived as long as he did. And he'd still be ruling today if not for the Coalition assault on his rule. And He ruled in such a way that anyone who even was suspected of speaking out against him or was viewed as a threat...would be executed...their families too. He had full control of the Nation's Military. And Saddam held B.S. Elections every 4 years, chosing some lapdog to run as an opponent, just to give this aire of legitamacy to his regime. No constitution to protect the people, their rights, or their very lives. if we give up our rights...our sacred Constitution...we may as well commit to giving up our lives too.

Evil exist everywhere...and the U.S. has no shortage of that either.

School shootings in Israel if they had the same population as the US: 323. Seriously, it literally works out to the same number.
Possible external factors (need more data): relative danger of region, relative percentage of children, Israel's much stricter civilian gun laws.

As for your "right" to own guns: it's only ambiguously a right now. It should not be a right and I am in favor of an amendment to that effect. Civilian weapons are no longer useful against the military, so that reason is no longer valid.
