Battlefront: Evolved (mod) 1.0 is released!

Finally got around to finishing this. I'm posting it here because I remember there was some interest in it.

Long story short, it replaces weapon and unit models with better looking or more accurate ones, and it's all entirely online compatible. I play on JBA with this mod installed just fine.

Can you give us mod dummies instructions on how to download it properly?

1) Click here.

2) Click on "Download Now"

3) Download it to whereever, a Download folder or the Desktop is prefered.

4) Double click the .exe file. It'll ask you to extract the files, do so.

5) Follow the instructions provided in the Evolved_Installation.txt file.

Spoiler: show

1) Go to C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\data\_lvl_pc\side and make backups of:
-ALL.lvl
-ALLshell.lvl
-CIS.lvl
-CISSHell.lvl
-REP.lvl
-REPShell.lvl
-IMP.lvl
-IMPshell.lvl


2) Extract the files to your desktop.

3) Copy the contents of the Side folder to C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\data\_lvl_pc\side.

4) Play the game and enjoy.

What if I'm running BF2 with Steam? I don't want to do anything yet because I've messed up my old cd copy with a different mod.

The installation directory is different, but I always forget when it is.

Instead of

C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\data\_lvl_pc\side

it would be something like

C:\Program Files\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\data\_lvl_pc\side

Just a wild guess, I don't own the steam version.

Ok so I think I downloaded it correctly, and replaced all the old files after making backups, but when I tested it nothing changed. And also my ping went up through the roof. But you know what? To hell with steam. Used it for a couple years but all those updates, news, game ads, and repeated forced email verifications make me want to punch a tree. Gonna blow 10 bucks on a good'ole fashioned CD copy from Walmart or something, Steam has been annoying me for far to long.

And thanks for the instructions, once I get my CD I'll be rockin that graphics mod.
