Right, so can anyone give me a reason why this [m'kay] wit hasn't been banned yet?

Unfortunately, this is promoted all over this country.... for women. Ever take a good look at how men are portrayed? In everything from sitcoms to commercials, men are fat, stupid, violent idiots that beautiful, sensitive, tolerant women have to correct constantly.

This doesn't help marriage at all.

Now back to the point please.

Let them get married. Who really gives a rats ass? Did anyone notice the Monsanto protection act that was passed while tjs sheep were distracted with the gay marriage crap?

From a "country girl"'s perspective on weddings:

Mine and Boosie's wedding cost I think $40 (whatever the cost of a marriage license - the JP was free). Our reception we had a month later maybe $200. I only have one regret.... I'm a semi-religious girl and because we did the "JP" thing I feel like our marriage isn't 100% official since there was no minister...thats the only thing I wish I could have had, a minister to officiate.... our 10th anniversary is this summer and we're thinking of asking our family's favorite pastor officiate a small intimate vow renewal in my parents living room.. nothing fancy.

You're retarded. The constitution says nothing about marriage. In fact to piggy back off that I'm pretty sure that God and religion aren't referenced but maybe once in its entirety. The constitution is not based on the judeo Christian laws and ideals but far more upon the French enlightenment and loosely upon the English bill of rights. The founding fathers, the famous ones at least, were quite liberal and generally unorthodox. Hell, even the hardcore evangelicals just wanted to be left alone.

The Christian parts of the government that some think have been there forever are actually quite young, having been implemented in the fifties mainly. democracy is in fact the antithesis of Abrahamic religion which is clearly a despotic monarchy with a mad man at the helm. But I digress. You are allowed to divorce. You can eat shrimp. You can get tattoos. This is not a Christian nation. But a nation with many Christians. its laws should not be derived from sources as sharia law or biblical law

Doesn't anyone read the Constitution? idiot.

Certainly not you. And one doesn't even need to read it to know that marriage is not mentioned at all. Here's a link to a copy of the U.S. Constitution: http://www.usconstitution.net/const.pdf

Hit Ctrl + F to do a search for marriage, and you will see that no instances of it comes up.

If marriage is regulated by the state, which it is, then its responsible for it. Its pretty apparent that the people who want it, want it, and the rest don't care.
If the church choices not to recognize certain unions then that is their prerogative. As the contract that it is, in the eyes of the state, the state needs to recognize it. It could be so cut and dried, but instead we dramatize the [poo] out of it and pit people against each other over what shouldn't even be an issue to begin with. Its ridiculous that they don't put such matters to public vote.
