As Crater has said, homosexuality passes the only moral test that mat.ters to me; does it hurt anyone? No, homosexuality doesn't hurt anyone. At least not anymore. Let me explain.
Many things in the OT can be seen as guidelines for health safety and for the betterment of our species. A prime example, one wasn't allowed to touch the skin of a pig. Nor eat them for that mat.ter. Neither were we suppose to eat shellfish. This can be seen as God telling us not to eat or touch things that could give us diseases.
Now, what is the issue with homosexuality in regards to the betterment of our species? Reproduction, and that alone. At the time the bible was written, the average human lifespan was quite short compared to now. Reproduction of our species is something God obviously was concerned with. The bible forbids masturbation, contraception, and homosexuality. What are the problems with these things? They do not cause reproduction. They waste time and effort when our species needed to proliferate.
Fast forward 2 thousand years. We are 7 billion strong. We need not concern ourselves with reproduction anymore. If anything, we need to drastically slow down reproduction.
Homosexuality, masturbation, and contraception are no longer an issue. The Catholic Church sees things otherwise, saying it is sinful to use a condom. Which is causing the spread of HIV/AIDS in Africa. We need to adjust our outlook of morality and the bible, and realize how outdated the bible really is.
Indeed it's all about the morale, the bible shows Gods morale, tell me, what is the view on Incest?
Before i go into the subject let's be clear here personally whenever i think about the subject i need to be carefull not the trow up. H
owever there are cases where a couple discoveres they are actually brothers and can no longer marry.
The only diffrence is that if said couple if having kids has twice the chances of said children to be born with a disorder of some sorts.
If said couple didn't have children who would be hurt?
My point being, the views on that subject haven't changed over the years, acording to the bible it's "An abomination, something disgusting" which shares the same on homosexuality from a religios point of view.
Marriage is becoming a joke as it is "Till death do us part" rarely is this the case nowadays, but the same can be said of the morality of today, which has just drastically changed in the past few decades
But tell me where does the bible says it forbids contraception? The catholic church can say what it wants, doesn't automatically means they are right unless they have something to base themselfs on
Personally i feel this applies:
Proverbs 5:18-19
"let your water source prove to be blessed, and rejoice with the wife of your youth, a lovable hind and a charming mountain goat. Let her own breasts intoxicate you at all times. With her love may you be in an ecstasy constantly."
I doubt this is saying "only if you intend to have more children"
I guess i was a bit more interested in posting the contraception part rather then the homosexual part
