Microsoft:Rare to see back to back stumbles on Product lines

So the last two years or so, it seems like Microsoft has honestly just been having its ass handed to it on literally every front. From its impending console release, to its latest OS, to its incredible ass pounding when it comes to tablets it seems like Microsoft has entered a long slide that it will be so hard to pull itself out of.

Also, I think the beating that MS will take from the PS4 as established by Forbes (9-10 mil units vs 12-15 mil PS4 units) is extremely conservative at best. I honestly feel that unless the Xbox pulls some extremely good exclusives out of its ass, that the split could very well be 5:20-25. Because the PS4 is as good as the Xbox1 is bad from what I've seen. I will be buying a new console for the first time since the original release of the PS2. And looking for a keyboard/mouse third party program for it from day one of course. :)

I do believe that MS hasn't really taken too large a hit in market share from the Win8 failure, seeing as Win7 was such a success. But I do find their corporate strategy to be rather rigid, and I haven't seen much attempt to exploit emerging markets that are under-served in the manner of electronics. But then again, the same can definitely be said of most of its major competitors on this subject.

And tablets...well, Apple took the lead on this one purely because Steve Jobs was still alive, and to say he isn't one of the greatest marketers to have ever existed would be an absolute lie. Without him, I'm not sure the iPad would have grabbed as much market space as it did.

It feels like microsoft took everything they learned with the xbox 360 and windows 7, then promptly threw it out the window and asked themselves, "how can we make products that alienate as many customers as possible?"

I don't understand why people hate windows 8 so much. But I have to agree that Microsoft has not been listening to what the people want.

Because Metro was invented by the devil.

And largely because Windows 8 makes you want to use Windows 8's [poo] to do things. When you asked Windows 7 to do something, it just [m'kay] did it without much [poo].

Microsoft will see a massive shift in its console market share with this iteration of next-gen consoles. It's already announced its lack of support for used games, instantly garnering animosity from every gamer in every camp. That coupled with Kinect's constant monitoring and data gathering is proving to be a privacy issue for many and their requirement that your Xbox One must be connected to the Internet 100% of the time in order to play games. Microsoft's lack of response or concern to what consumers' are viewing as restrictive measures has also put them at the bottom of the list for many. Not to mention Sony's PS4 is selling for $100 cheaper and without all the restrictions Microsoft has in their console.

If Microsoft wants to be around to launch its next Xbox console it had better rethink what it thinks consumers want in a console and it had better do it sooner rather than later.

Xbox is also being out-ordered 3-2 in the US, where their strongest sales area has been traditionally. GJ Microsoft. I thought only EA could blunder on this level.

This is news to you?

Microsoft has been failing since Windows ME.

They had a hit with XP, and then the fail that was vista, followed by the semi-hit of 7, then the fail of 8.

Microsoft != innovative.

Plus they try to kill what they can't compete with (i.e. linux, android, etc etc etc).

I despise them.
