The problem ahead for the US is massive I'm afraid. If it is not tackled then society within the US will overtime start to collapse.

I'd say it's already happening.

The liberty you fought for it now being consumed because you are trying to be everything to all people.

I interpret that as: "The liberty you fought for is now being abused by lazy-assed welfare recipients wanting government to give everything for free to all people."
Which is accurate either way you say it. 'Personal' responsibility seems to be getting pushed aside more and more.

I wish someone would make a meme with that one grandpa saying "We might have completely [m'kay] up the financial and education systems in this country" on the top and then "but this is completely the fault of all those young and poor people" on the bottom. Because the truth of the er is that the country that the dinosaurs complain about is exactly what they created.

Also, welfare spending is below the OECD average as of 2011. :) Entrepreneurship is also at a ten year high.

Having a dense population helps immensely as it focuses money and cuts drastically down on the price of services that the government usually provides such as police officers.

Perhaps this also has an impact upon crime?

Then you have the issue of immigration. By the recent 2010 stats, 6.1 million people in Germany were born outside of it with Germany having the most first generation immigrants of EU nations. That's only six years of immigration for the United States. And obviously first generation immigrants are more likely to be in one of the lower classes of society and (should, but I don't know the statistics) correspondingly be more apt to commit crime.

And now with the new reform 11 million immigrants will be granted US citizenship perhaps this could be classified as first generation immigrants and the crime rate might increase accordingly? I'm curious if this will have an impact?

It's actually pretty incredible that the US stays in the same league as you lucky EU countries when it comes to most things. Don't worry though if you guys get out of hand again we'll come and kick your asses for the second or third time.

Racism is a business here in the states and without it the professional race baiters would go broke. It is in Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson's best interest to promote racism and to fan the flames. It keeps the money flowing. Because of this, I give zero weight and zero credibility to anyone who claims racism anymore, chicken little syndrome. It's a two way street and traffic in both directions equaled out when we elected our first "black" president.

Except racism does still exist, institutionally. I haven't noticed it directly because I'm white, but it's still there. And not just in the deep south, either. Let me quote myself from the Paula Deen thread:

I actually ponder that sometimes. I think it was inevitable that we would've broke free eventually, but it's an interesting point. Besides, we've MORE than repaid our debt to France. Lol, the French.

Meh. I see it run both ways a great deal. I think some people just don't like other people and it will always be that way. I believe the effort to force the fringes to like each other will result it more hatred between those who really didn't care to begin with. I blame Obama.

America vs the EU would be a pretty short war. And America would have been free. Obviously the French navy guaranteed the victory at York town but guerrilla movements have shown for centuries how effective they are against fighting conventional soldiers. Also I wouldn't say we really saved the French from anything but getting steam rolled by the Soviet Union.
