When did this mentality become a thing here? I remember years ago being told "you're only 14. Shut up kid. Your opinion doesn't matter. Ramble ramble ramble."

Shut up kid. Your opinion doesn't matter. Ramble ramble ramble. :oldman:

Duel of Fates wrote:I think the Dems are getting nervous. They try to use scare tactics like "the economy will crash", "800,000 government workers will lose their jobs and paychecks", "parks will be closed". And the media is buying into it. How come no one points out that the last shutdown actually spurred the economy? How come the media doesn't point out the fact that 23 million people are already out of work and close to another 10 million have dropped out of the work force entirely on Obama's watch? How many people have lost their homes in the housing crash which was instigated by bad political policies?
Oh no, our national parks will not open. How about the sacrifice of our soldiers put in harms way, living and fighting in hell holes around the globe? Maybe the American population can stand to sacrifice their vacations to Yosemite.

If you look past the scare tactics, you might notice that Dems are a little worried that people will realize they do not need a huge leviathan government. That we can survive and thrive without all of these programs, taxes, subsidies, entitlements, and over reaching, bloated government agencies like the IRS and the FED. I hope the Reps don't give in. Maybe they will realize that we do not need to spend and waste the taxpayers money on stupid [poo].

 srsly tho, although I am technically third party, I am more conservative than liberal...however, I think both reps and dems are wrong, and need to compromise.

Too early to tell about the merits of Obamacare this early on. Rate shock is always present for about 2-3 years depending on how that industry cycles. Long term I wouldn't doubt overall care costs dropping just so that the companies can grab market share. Fiscally I don't agree with the timing at all just given the levels of debt we hold. It'll be interesting to see how the debt ceiling debates work out, if it goes down the drain we might very well be seeing the collapse of the modern financial system. Which would be fun.

And there's no way in hell that Duel is anywhere even near center-left. Overall, I'm center left with extreme right outliers. Duel is pretty damn far right if I'm remembering his posts in other topics like I think I am. Although personally I don't identify with any party and the only ideology I really stick to when it comes to politics is realpolitik by Bismark. Who was a conservative in his time. Pretty much all of the older staff other than MC is pretty far right here.

Grand idea. Lets just all agree that we should come together so that when it all falls apart everyone can be to blame. When everyone walks on the fence and chooses not to take a side, eventually there will be a broken board.
