This is what needs to happen but wont. We have no Parties what so ever. Have no Rep or Dem President. We reboot everything. Cutoff the countries we owe money to and make all the money back. Pay them off. Make our own stuff instead of China. We need an off and on switch here. I was watching Jesse Ventura the other night on Piers Morgan and had to agree with him. This country needs a reboot and needs a a non Party president

First let me correct you on your poor understanding of the primary functions of our governmental entities. Congress's primary function is to represent the people, their constituents in matters that fall within its jurisdiction. It is a combination of the Internal Revenue Service and the Federal Reserve to "fund the federal government". One of the jobs of Congress is to authorize the spending of government monies in blocks defined by a budget or a scope. (budgets have a cap, scopes have a ratio i.e. $100 for every 10 citizens). Without authorization from Congress the federal government is not allowed to spend money (over-simplified).

A majority of one house of Congress, representing their constituents, refused to fund a portion of the government's spending while approving the rest. The majority of the other house of Congress did not and does not agree. They believe it should be all or nothing. The President agrees with the majority of the house of Congress that would rather see all of the government cease providing services than just the one brand new program estimated to cost 1.1 trillion over the next 10 years.

That program is commonly known as Obama Care.

To address your poorly constructed, admitted oversimplification, my account was entirely accurate - excepting the reference to "primary function" (this was a poor choice of words), though it is a central responsibility. You continued to say pretty much what I did...except you threw in a bit of partisan vitriol. I doubt you could resist.

Firstly, I don't plagiarize - secondly, I believe the account I gave was unbiased. I never established a /position/ as to what was happening; I just gave a summary and a prediction...

Aside from the fact that this is entirely unrealistic, it's also a ridiculous thing to even consider.

Firstly, the United States is post-industrial, and the fact that US companies are all oriented towards tertiary and quaternary economic activities and all operate relatively freely, there is no incentive to begin in-country manufacturing again. Labor is too cheap elsewhere and transportation costs don't offset the profit...'

Secondly, parties allow individuals to coalesce into loosely-defined (though this is changing) groups of people who share their values. If you don't know the historical context, you have to recognize that without political parties, participation on the part of the citizenry would be severely diminished (and we may have developed into a modern-day aristocracy).

Thirdly, how do you propose all of this transpire? If you believe our country should remain free, then this cannot and will not happen. Only if you're keen on a dictatorship can any "reboot" of the size you're thinking of even begin to take shape...
