I appeared derisive and I attacked your /viewpoint/ because I believe it is inaccurate. I have heard you and others bash the President and bash this new generation countless times without ever providing substantive evidence to back up your claims and simply resorting to the old "It's Obama's fault."

Please note, I am not a radical Obama supporter. If anything, I am a disheartened critic who is disillusioned at coming to realizing that our leaders are often more like children than myself. I recognize your point of view and often agree, but I don't see how progress can be attained when people blame everything on the President and fail to provide a logical, countersolution. I've heard infactual debunk after infactual debunk of Obamacare, Gun Control, Evolution, etc, and I'm sick of the partisan bickering that is done by many here who fail to stop and even consider that they might be wrong or that the other guy might be right!

I have quite a bit to learn - I'll be the first to admit that, but I am not a self-important, snot-nosed brat who doesn't know what he is talking about. Quite the contrary actually, but I am continually discounted as a "kid" whose arguments merit no consideration! This doesn't bother me in and of itself, but if you're going to turn around and accuse me of incivility (and I admit I may have been rash to reply), then the least you can do is read back a few pages and see the truth of the exchange.

We'll put Pepsi. I don't know your age, but if you are a teenager then good on you for an open minded, logical point of view.
Maybe your country does have a future.

Nope, I saw it earlier. I think that's why it's on the web, but looks photo shopped on the head. Then Dog takes [poo], watch as Jesus' head explodes.

First off, apology accepted. And if I came off too harsh today, I too would like to apologize.

Secondly, like I stated earlier, I do not expect people to believe everything I do. That is illogical. I like to hear opposing viewpoints and try to understand people. Unfortunately you and a few others seem to doggedly stand by this president even after years of lying to you with a straight face. I find it remarkable that so many people buy into it, mostly the young. And the social agendas that he is pushing on America, are not what America is about. He didn't lie when he said he wanted to "fundamentally change America". But not many people caught that. And the media never asked, "gee Senator, what do you mean by fundamentally changing America?" They just cheered him on without looking at what he intended. Some of us caught it though, and we have been watching this train wreck of an administration gaining speed. And we are frustrated that more people are not using common sense when it comes to the politicians and the power plays being made.

I do catch a lot of CNN, MSNBC, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Fox, and the assorted radio talk shows. ( I work nights, so sometimes have a lot of time on my hands during the day. ) So when you post a link to a media sight for facts, I just cringe. Because if you really believe that they are telling you the truth, you really do not understand. You have to look at every story from 6 sides, and read between the lines and maybe you will get an insight as to what is really going on.

First, we do not have all the answers. But some of the solutions have been out there, and ignored. I submit to you that a major solution is that we cut spending to the bare minimum until our deficit is reduced significantly. It is common sense. And logical. If you do not have the money to spend, do not spend more. That would include Obama Care.

Also, term limits should be put in place to get rid of the career politicians that are in it to make money and gain power, instead of representing the people that put them in office. Some of these dipwads have been feeding off of the public trough for over 3 decades now.

There also needs to be a law passed that makes it illegal for Congress and the President to exempt themselves, unions, or big businesses from the same laws that the American citizens have to adhere to. No One is above the law. By exempting themselves and their friends and cronies, they are making an elitist caste. And that will not end well.

Cut taxes to give a boost to the economy, create more jobs and get ourselves out of this recession.

These are just a couple of solutions that can be used. Common sense. Logical. There are many more things that I can go on with, but I am tired, and it is late.

Oh, and by the way, "infactual" is not a word. Just so you know, it looks dumb. :whistling: I think the word you are trying to use is fictional, or untrue.

Apology accepted, my friend :)

Now, I appreciate that you take the time to look at an issue from multiple viewpoints, and I realize the value of this and plan to expand my source-base in the future.

1) Term Limits...Agreed! Good Lord, these people spend their lives disrupting the functionality of the system and attempt to use their positions in our Legislative Branch as a launching point into other aspects of our government after their popularity falls. Term limits also decrease the corporatist elections we've grown accustomed to, and that have been near-codified by the Supreme Court :whistling: This said, how can we expect Congressmen to impose term limits on themselves?

2) Cut Spending...Partially agreed - it is difficult to determine spending cuts because each Congressman has lobbyists from 500+ corporations each arguing against cuts that may indirectly affect their businesses. (This is also the reason serious tax reform is improbable.) A. Military, Less funding to the military outrages many defense advocates, but the real reason we won't cut spending in this area is the Military Industrial Complex (Private Contractors that Eisenhower warned us about). B. Medicare - constituents would be outraged. C. Social security - people have paid their entire lives into this system and expect returns. Immediate cuts would cause riots, and cuts affecting later generations would sow significant dissent. D. Medicaid - No, you cannot touch this. Arguing about cutting waste out of the system is acceptable, but in our society, we care for those who cannot afford to care for themselves. (I'm not suggesting you're opposed to this, just clarifying) If a child is born into a poor family, we do not let him die b/c his parents didn't save well and can't afford to pay for his care w/ Private Insurance (which doesn't cover quite a bit, by the way, and tries to get out of paying legitimate claims more often then not - Read John Grisham's The Rainmaker. It's fictional, but it tells a terrifying story.)

3) Cut taxes...Again, partially agreed. What you say makes sense - cut taxes = increased revenue for businesses, who will want to grow and hire. Unfortunately, cutting taxes has never consistently shown a large increase in economic productivity. Businesses with larger revenue don't always hire and invest - many times, they increase salaries and benefits for executives or increase labor /overseas/. Please read the following: http://www.epi.org/publication/ib364-corporate-tax-rates-and-economic-growth/Cutting taxes also decreases revenue (obviously), but without determining what we can cut, decreasing our revenue is not a logical way to go about improving economic function. Schools, roads, hospitals, defense, etc. are all vital to a first-world country.

4) Infactual...I know it's not a word, but it should be

The easiest and quickest way we can trim some fat is STOP paying so much in foreign aid. I agree that things like Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and the military are off-limits.

Another way to trim a LOT of fat is for those who are on Welfare to require them to do community service work. Instead of paying money on cleanup crews for parks, streets, etc. we can have those who need help to do something for the help. I'm not talking about moms on wic doing stuff like this, cause they need to be feeding their kids, but If both parents are unemployed there is no reason Daddy can't be doing community service...
