First of, let me say that I have never read the entire Bible. When I do read it, I just open it and read.. at random. I also like to add that I totally understand Mandy's and others "problems" with the Bible. The old Testaments does have some weird passages, and I won't try to explain them.. because I can't. What I can say is that there are different translations to the same passages. Some see it one way, while others see it differently. I stopped listening. I told myself to find my own meaning.. what those words mean to me. As I said earlier.. I don't trust these "men of God" out there preaching.. I will find God myself, without other views and explanations. I feel the same way about organized religions, I have no trust in them.
What I will say is that those were "weird" times. I look at them as humanities "infancy". I also see a almost hatred for women. I think (at those times), women were blamed for our expulsion from paradise. Yes, it seems cruel, but here's my take on all that.. the Bible (Old Testament) was written at a time when we all were "sinners", and God made some very strict laws for us in order to be sin free. Remember, this was at the time of Moses.. when the Jews were freed (they were slaves in Egypt) by God. So when Moses was away talking to the "burning bush" in Mt.Siani(?), these same Jews, that Moses fred through God, decided to make a false idol (the golden calf), and party (fornicating, stealing, etc.). For these actions, we fell out of favor, God saw how corrupted we were. That's why we had such harsh laws. That's the way I see those times. Then came Jesus, and He died for our sins and wickedness. There's where the New Testament begun, and the old ways were changed forever. One thing I know is.. God is a loving God, but he's also a harsh, jealous God. And he has to be.. nothing unclean can be with Him.

I do usually vote republican, but will usually go for an Indy if I think they have an snowballs chance.
I don't hold the republicans religious stance against them any more or less than anyone else.

But worse still they are also comfortable asking/demanding people to prove theories on evolution and not seem to care how idiotic they sound.

The thread was started about a debate between a couple of guys. The first preaching came from someone claiming evolution to be an undeniable fact and expressing his surprise that not everyone believed what he did. If you don't like people expressing or defending beliefs that are contrary to your own then you simply don't need to read the posts.

Sadly for me and rather embarrassingly is that I owe you an apology. I named you when in fact I was referring to a post on page ten by DesertEagle, sorry for that mistake which was most likely caused by my old age and stupidity. That does now mean I have moved my moody comment on to someone else and offend them, but that's fair I guess. I will never understand anyone who either doesn't understand or be able to deal with the meaning of life without a God.

As for the debate, as far as I can see no one can really claim that their side of the story is fact. By all means debate the possibility's but once you claim "this is how it happened" it all sounds a bit silly and pointless as neither sides can prove otherwise. Sure I do full on the side of Evolution for obvious reasons, to me it's the most logical, educated and interesting view of the past, but no one can claim it as fact.

Maybe one day.

To be quite honest while I am opposite from your view point of dealing with the meaning of life, I agree that no human on earth has solid evidence one way or the other. If there was there would be no debate.

People will chose what is most logical to their way of thinking. I sit on the side of creation and design by God because to me it's the most logical, educated, and interesting view.

Agreed, I think we should leave it here. We have all said what we believe, there is really nothing more to say. Anything more is just going to be bickering. It's gotten a bit tense in this thread (religious debates always seem to sadly), so let's just end it.

I disagree completely. The Papal Office made anything that didn't agree with CATHOLICISM, illegal and executed or imprisoned the inventor. Knowledge was pretty much discouraged and most people couldn't read or write. I gotta say though, the new pope is a beautiful, beautiful man. Never have I actually agreed with a pope. He's a pretty cool dude.
