There’s no guarantee this crisis won’t escalate, especially given the precedence of Russia’s invasion of Georgia in 2008. That crisis was started by Russia, and ended with it attempting to annex part of a former Soviet Union territory, much like they're trying to do here it seems.
Vladimir Putin has previously referred to the break up of the Soviet Union as the biggest geopolitical disaster of the 20th century. When will he accept that it has ended and just drop Russia's incessant big bullying bear policy?
