Sniping mechanics

Postby Morgana Le Fay » Tue Mar 18, 2014 6:19 am

Out of any shooter game I've ever played, EVER, I have never seen sniper mechanics so random and unreliable as on here. Oftentimes I'll have the crosshairs on a stationary target, glowing red, and I can see the shot hit home and the target will even twitch in response, but register no damage. Other times, my crosshairs will be completely off target as I'm trying to get a bead on someone, and I still manage to hit them somehow. Almost never do I manage to properly hit someone with the sniper, but usually fluke it with a shot that looks like a total miss.

Am I the only one who has this experience with the sniper?

Yes. All the time. Two thirds of my shots do that. Darned annoying :oldman:

P.S. Sniper is the one class I'm not bad at, so if you want advice or help with sniper, hit me up. :gun_bandana:

Yeah, I think when the wind is kicked up (like on Kamino when it's raining) there's some wind correction required as well as the drift down. Beyond that, it's the lag. Happens a lot. Usually, I'll just reload, shoot some teammates in the head, do a couple rolls and jumps to get the kinks out, then try again. Works pretty well.

I've found sniping to be very frustrating as well.

Other people don't seem to have much of a problem hitting me from super long range, but my shots just seem to be so random. Even when dead on it sometimes has no effect.

I have the draw option up at max.

Do you suppose being in third person view affects it at all?

Steps to be a good sniper
1: stop playing on a toaster (have a good computer)
2: use something other than dial up (have good internet)
3: fire in their general vicinity
4: hope for the best
[04:25] -SR-Mandalore: who pitches and who catches
[04:29] (SWGO)SWINE*FLU: We'll do it in turns.
[04:30] -SR-Mandalore: That sounds super fair
[04:30] -SR-Mandalore: Do you think other gay couples do that?
[04:30] (SWGO)SWINE*FLU: I reckon so.

Most long range shots don't register because of lag or just the distance, like on Kamino. Just hope for the best, or try to sneak in closer.

also on kamino, you gotta keep in mind the 1.33 refraction index of the rain. Willebrord mechanics, man, light travels slower.
