Does GameSpy actually control the SWBF2 servers? I don't think I ever signed up for a GameSpy account at all.

the worst thing that could happen is that my gamespot account (commanderotto) will be terminated and i'll loose my score... big deal

but anyway, I highly doubt it will be a problem for us if gamespy decides to stop support for bf2.

Eyes or Bryant probably know more about the consequences of this than I do. However, it will be a major problem if they do cut support. Not necessarily unsolvable, but major.

So instead of letting the game bleed to death they decide to put it out of it's misery and run over it with a truck?

Gamespy is the service that lists all the available servers for you to see. So when Gamespy shuts down SWBF2, you will not be able to join ANY server (expect LAN). Eyes currently has a solution in mind, but it will require a large amount of work...

^ This is absolutely wrong. The gamespy ID is a separate service, so you'll probably still be able to use that name. It will kill the swbf2 community when the time comes. (Unless Eyes succeeds in his endeavor...)

The only way to fix it is to make a third party server browser, which would be difficult but not impossible, or somehow implement a way to connect to the IP directly. Other than that, just play by post.
