On a lighter note...

Happy birthday Star Wars! It is hard to believe that it has been 34 years today since I first sat down in the theater as young boy to watch the first showing of Star Wars in 1977. I still remember to this day the opening crawl giving me chills! (It sometimes still does) Seeing the Star Destroyer chasing the Rebel Blockade Runner was just ominous at that time. It seemed to go on for ever because it was so large. The introduction of R2-D2 and C-3PO, the first battle sequence, and then the ultimate villain enters ... Darth Vader! The first few minutes of that film really changed the rest of my life in a way I never thought it would. It touched me and many others so deeply to the core that we are still die-hard fans to this day 34 years later. "Star Wars" as it was originally known (Not Episode IV or A New Hope) is to this day still my favorite of all the episodes and I believe it is because of the marking impression it left on my when I was 8. I usually don't like to say this because it can be seen as nerdy, but today seems fitting. May the Force be with you always!

^----- hes older than me!!!

I agree with your entire post, though I was a youngling I remember pretty much everything about that day. All the parents and kids on my street loaded up the station wagons and went to see it. It was the first time I had caramel creams (always associated them with chewbacca since). Cookout after, climbing to the treehouse and Michelle singing her own version of the Star Wars theme. I was three- seems like yesterday.

Yeah..... the orginal Star Wars is one of the only movies that I remember exactly which theater that I saw it in and roughly where in the theater that I was sitting from that era. I remember my parents dropping me and my buddy off to see the movie while they went shopping. I/we were about 12 at the time.

Only other movie I remember so vividly from my teenage years was some PeeWee Herman movie. The same buddy went with me to that movie (we were old enough to drive by then) and we were both so un-amused/un-impressed that we got up and left the theater maybe 10 minutes into the film. I think thats the only time I've ever left a movie so early.

I just turned seven and I can remember my parents talking about this new movie that was all over the news. I remember this was the first time I realized my father was a sic-fi geek. I also remember my parents were worried that I or my little brother would get scared from the monsters on the screen. Lol, they need not have worried, as soon as the movie started, a whole new universe opened before me.

34 years? Wow time flies. May the Force Be With You.

I was 3 when this came out and the oldest memory I can even think of is when the jawas shoot R2 while I was sitting in my dad's mustang eating a big ass bag of popcorn my mom made at the drive in. Epic memory!
