i've heard many good things of EVE online. It has this sandbox feeling, where you can do whatever you want. Sadly, MMO's are going through dark times because developers keep making the games way too easy and guided (like in SWTOR). So basically, in most MMo's you can't choose your path. I've heard that EVE is very free and innovative in this sense... only thing I don't like is the design of those spaceships lol...

If EVE was F2P I'd have been playing it years ago. But I can't afford subscription based games. And I know if I was good enough I could make the game F2P if I made enough ingame money, but honestly, I'm not that good of a gamer.

I just talked to a LOTRO friend of mine, he's pretty high up in that game, he's never payed a dime for the game.
Basically you can farm money in the game by destroying pirates and buying "month" play cards with said money thus increasing the time you can play.
So he just bombards some pirates gets money, buys a card and keeps playing

Try this one (Watch on youtube in 720p, it's mind blowing).

Freespace 2: Old game with an engine that is now open source.
