Darth Crater wrote:Thanks. So...
-Everyone has the ability to get health insurance.
-Not getting disqualified for pre-existing conditions (as I mentioned I have a friend who benefits from this).
-I'm able to be covered by my parents' health insurance for the next five years if necessary.
-People who already have insurance shouldn't see anything change, though there may be disturbances in prices or a need to switch plans.
-Tax increases and penalties associated with it only apply to the rich or incompetent (respectively), and create a net income for the government.
As far as I can tell the downsides are perfectly reasonable for an act with this much benefit.

Outrider wrote:I don't think it's fair to lump all Californians together like that. Nancy Pelosi was only one of 40+ congressmen from California back in the day, and only residents from her district(s) could have elected her to represent them. As for her becoming Speaker of the House, House Minority Leader, etc., that selection process was done in the House, not by Californians. And it's only fair that California gets an equal representation of electoral votes since it is a very populous state after all. Rather than blame California, it is the Electoral College itself that is flawed.
WD-40 wrote:For all but those in Congress to read you mean. She sure didn't know what it said!
You’ve heard about the controversies within the bill, the process about the bill, one or the other. But I don’t know if you have heard that it is legislation for the future, not just about health care for America, but about a healthier America, where preventive care is not something that you have to pay a deductible for or out of pocket. Prevention, prevention, prevention—it’s about diet, not diabetes. It’s going to be very, very exciting. But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.
WD-40 wrote:I know she is one of MANY Congressionals for CA...that's obvious. Read what I said. I said CA is FILLED with [m'kay] up voters...(not all) Yes, I agree, the electoral college is flawed. It should be by Popular vote.

Why do people want health insurance?
Isn't health care what people want ?
Why do we muddy the waters of this debate with health insurance?
Cause you grabass pussyboy babies are too afraid to ask for what you really want; Free medical treatment for anything and everything that ails ya. You can't get away with "Free healthcare for all" or "Government paid for Healthcare" so you say "Insurance should pay for it. That's what insurance is for right?" WRONG!
Anybody who believes that Obamacare or ANY health insurance program that isn't market driven can work are the same idiots who think the American government can continue to spend more and more each year indefinitely by borrowing from foreign investors. You are stupid, should not be allowed to hold office or even vote.
I'm sorry Crater, but people with your attitude towards getting something for free sickens me. You don't know or care where that something comes from. You've become accustomed to expecting things handed to you. {Retch!}
If you came to me for a job interview I'd hire an illegal Mexican and pay him TWICE as much!
We need a cultural revolution in this country that eradicates any sense of entitlement from our people and instead imbues a resilience and determination to make ones own way in this world. A work ethic that restores value to our currency and faith in our economy. A return of pride in American achievement and progress based on hard work and continuing improvement.
The personalities in this election be damned. At election time you have to ask, which choice will aim towards a solution and which to more of the same.
