I was 11 when I saw Star Wars. We watched commercials rabidly to see what the fuss was that everyone was talking about. The Austin, Texas news showed long lines on tv. What was this? A line for a space movie? Everyone kept comparing and saying how different it was to 2001. Another movie my parents took me to some years before, was "2001" when 1 was 3 or 4. I barely remember it, other then being scared to pieces and not watching it, rather ducking under my shirt. Star Wars was different. I still remember my dad saying, "When is that ship gonna stop?" Man what an awesome opening to a movie. This for me was the beginning of the "new movie" Instead stop motion it was models. Who knew that now we would consider models as ancient? I also saw the first Superman movie and the first Star Trek movie in that theater. Wow. Some memories you dug up...
